• Design and build scalable backend systems powering AI Agents that operate in real-time enterprise environments • Develop agent orchestration frameworks (multi-step reasoning, tool usage, decisioning workflows) • Build systems for agent memory, context management, and state persistence across interactions • Architect low-latency inference pipelines integrating LLMs, SLMs, and external tools/services • Implement evaluation (evals) frameworks to measure agent performance, accuracy, and reliability • Enable continuous improvement loops (feedback → retraining → deployment) for AI agents in production • Design and manage event-driven, asynchronous workflows for complex agent tasks • Optimize systems for high throughput, low latency, and cost-efficient inference at scale • Build and maintain robust APIs and service layers (REST / gRPC) for agent capabilities • Partner closely with Applied AI / ML teams to productionize models and agent behaviours • Collaborate with Product and Solutions teams to translate real customer workflows into agentic systems • Drive best practices in observability, monitoring, safety, and guardrails for AI systems • Contribute to architecture decisions for scaling multi-tenant, enterprise-grade AI platforms

Role Description As a Backend Engineer II on the Devices Cloud team, you will build and improve the cloud services that power Life360's connected hardware — Tile trackers, Jiobit wearables, and emerging device categories. You own well-defined components and features across device state management, telemetry ingest, and the integration layer that connects physical hardware to family-facing experiences. - Work with growing independence. - Contribute to technical designs and own smaller designs. - Break down tasks and deliver reliable, well-tested code with occasional guidance from senior engineers. - Collaborate with firmware, mobile, platform, and data teams. - Deepen your technical skills to power experiences for tens of millions of families daily. - Use AI as a first-class collaborator across coding, testing, and debugging. Qualifications - 5+ years of experience in software engineering experience building backend or cloud services. - Experience building defined features, investigating and fixing bugs, and writing test code with growing independence. - Working knowledge of cloud-native infrastructure (AWS: EKS, Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS, Kinesis, etc.). - Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants for real engineering tasks. - Solid coding and problem-solving skills, with a habit of self-testing. - A clear communicator who shares progress and explains their work. - Able to work semi-independently and unblock yourself. - Experience with high-frequency ingest systems, time-series data, and streaming platforms (Kafka, Kinesis, or similar). - Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical field, or equivalent experience.
