Business Development Specialist

Intertape Polymer Group (IPG)

Role Description The Business Development Specialist II will be the market and application expert for assigned product(s). The Business Development Specialist II will actively pursue new business opportunities at both end user and distribution, coordinating with the Territory Managers and Director of Sales, within the respective territory, to meet the assigned product revenue and net CM $ goals. - Act as the solution “expert” for the markets and applications for the assigned product. - For select accounts, act as the primary contact, promoting IPG program and product solutions to effectively sell the bundle within assigned region. - Accountable for Revenue and Net CM$ quotas for assigned product(s) within assigned territory, while working with Territory Managers, Division Product leaders, Product Management, Markets Solutions, and Systems/Service teams. - Prospect key end users, as assigned by Manager, within assigned territory. - Support Distributor Sales Reps at the end user to close business. - Assist Territory Manager, as the solution expert, to close end user business and distributor conversions. - Once prospects are qualified, manage through sales cycle until close of business. - Coordinate with Territory Business Managers and Director of Sales the appropriate distribution partner to service the closed business. - Partner with distributors to identify complex end user opportunities and appropriate solutions as directed by manager. - Train Distributor Sales Reps on the features, benefits, and application solutions of the product line. - Provide guidance and expertise in client meetings regarding implementation and execution, best practices, products and features, partnerships, etc. - Act as a field feedback loop for product development. Qualifications - BA or BS Degree required from accredited university or college. - 4-7 years business development or sales experience in a related field. Prefer industrial or packaging sales. - Must have a “hunter” mentality and competitive drive. - Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite. - Must demonstrate strong and consistent attention to detail. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Must have a positive “customer service” mindset – team player. - Work independently or in team setting. - Work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities. - Must be able to travel by air or vehicle independently. • Own and execute a multi-year U.S. Government revenue strategy for the USP Medicine Supply Map (MSM), with primary targets across HHS, DoD, the Intelligence Community, and economic-security agencies. • Personally generate and qualify a sustained pipeline of $5M+ in addressable federal opportunities annually, with documented progression through capture, proposal, award, and post-award expansion. • Lead end-to-end capture management: opportunity identification, gate reviews, teaming and prime/sub decisions, pricing strategy, color-team reviews, proposal-writing oversight, and orals coaching. • Navigate federal contracting vehicles relevant to MSM, such as GSA Schedules, OASIS+, CIO-SP4, IDIQs, BAAs, OTAs, SBIR/STTR pathways, sole-source justifications, grants, cooperative agreements, and inter-agency agreements. • Advise USP on the optimal vehicles to pursue. • Build and maintain trusted relationships with federal program managers, contracting officers, GAO and CRS analysts, and prime-contractor BD counterparts (e.g., Booz Allen, Leidos, Deloitte, Peraton, MITRE). • Partner with USP’s Government Affairs team to align MSM positioning with active and emerging legislation and translate policy momentum into specific procurement actions. • Deliver compelling executive briefings, demos, and capability statements; represent USP at industry days, RFI/RFP responses, and government conferences. • Establish and report rigorous BD operating metrics to leadership on a monthly cadence. • Provide structured market intelligence to MSM product team to inform roadmap, packaging, and go-to-market decisions for federal customers. • Maintain disciplined CRM hygiene and serve as the system of record for USG opportunities, contacts, and competitive intelligence.
