Estimator - Civil Work
Agent
Role Description We are seeking a detail-oriented Estimator with 2-4 years of experience to join our team as a dedicated, full-time estimator working within our client's existing systems and workflows. The ideal candidate will support the full bid lifecycle — from comprehensive plan review and specification analysis through bid assembly and coordination with the existing estimating team. This is a critical role where attention to detail directly impacts profitability and risk mitigation on complex, high-value projects. Responsibilities - Conduct thorough review and "stress testing" of complex bid packages (including 1000+ page specifications) to identify missing scope, requirements, and potential financial risks before bid submission. - Perform quantity takeoffs and cost estimation using the client's existing software systems and Excel-based workflows. - Extract and analyze critical project requirements from extensive specification documents, schedules, and addendums to ensure bid compliance and feasibility. - Collaborate with the primary estimator and ownership team on bid assembly, material cost research, and final bid preparation. - Support coordination between estimating workflows and the client's existing third-party estimator to ensure consistency and catch discrepancies. - Manage material cost research and vendor pricing coordination as needed for bid packages. - Demonstrate familiarity with federal contracting requirements, permitting processes, and project logistics specific to Virgin Islands operations. Project Types - Demolition and site earthworks packages - Water, sewer, and utilities installations - Site development and grading - Heavy equipment mobilization and coordination - Federal infrastructure projects Qualifications - 3-5 years of estimating experience in heavy civil work, site development, or demolition with demonstrated experience on mid-to-large-scale projects ($500K - $5M+ scope). - Strong ability to read, interpret, and analyze detailed civil engineering plans, specifications, and complex bid documents. - Experience identifying scope gaps, compliance issues, and feasibility concerns in bid packages. - Proficiency with Excel and familiarity with takeoff software (PlanSwift or similar). - Neutral English accent and clear verbal communication skills — ability to communicate technical details clearly with U.S.-based team members is essential. - Prior experience working remotely for U.S.-based contractors is strongly preferred. - Detail-oriented mindset with ability to manage complex, multi-faceted bid packages.
