• Performs audits of medical record documentation to determine the accuracy of principal and secondary diagnosis (including MCC & CC) and procedure codes. • Adheres to official coding guidelines, coding clinics and regulatory guidelines and mandates. • Draws on advanced ICD-10 coding expertise to substantiate conclusions. • Utilizes proprietary auditing systems with a high level of proficiency to document audit determinations and rationale. • Consistently achieves productivity and quality performance standards established by management. • Actively cross-trains to perform reviews of multiple claim types to provide a flexible workforce to meet client needs. • Assists management with training new Coding Auditors to include daily monitoring, mentoring, feedback and education. • Maintains current knowledge of coding guidelines and successfully completes required CEUs to maintain coding certification. • Responsible for attending training and scheduled meetings to enhance skills and working knowledge of clinical policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
Job Requirements
- One or more active professional credentials through AHIMA or AAPC: CPC, COC, CCS, RHIA, RHIT; required
- 2+ years experience of outpatient medical record coding and/or auditing; required
- Demonstrated proficiency in medical record auditing and ICD-10 CM, ICD-10-PCS, APC, ASC, HCPCS, and CPT coding methodology.
- Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills and typing, i.e., Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Internet browsers and in virtual meeting tools i.e., Microsoft Teams, Zoom, etc.

Role Description The Physician Coding Auditor develops and implements strategic needs analyses and training plans for coding leadership; coordinates and evaluates curriculum development and conducts the preparation and delivery of training for Medical Coders employed by Ensemble and providers that are contracted/employed and outlined in the client SOW. Provides guidance and leadership to coding and billing management in the implementation and administration of effective systems, processes, and procedures. Performs annual performance reviews and quality assurance reviews to assess comprehension of training efforts. Serves as a subject matter expert for professional fee coding for all involved personnel; ensures that information is accurate and current, meeting professional coding standards. Ability to code and a clear understanding of the coding principles and guidelines for various specialties including Neurosurgery, Intervention Radiology, ENT, General Surgery, Cardiology, Anesthesia, Emergency Department. Job Responsibilities - Quality Review: Monitors and audits inpatient and outpatient accounts across the system, looking at HIM facility coding for both inpatient and outpatient accounts. Performs annual performance, randomized and quality assurance reviews to assess comprehension of training efforts. Also assists in CHAN and other external audits. - Educating: Assesses the educational needs of coding staff and providers that are contracted/employed and outlined in the client SOW and develops programs or researches educational resources to meet those needs. Assists with Task Force, CDE and quality department related education. Creates presentations, develops learning material, handbook and other educational materials. - Edits/Denials/Coding: Assists with edits, denials and appeals. Role Description - Provide accurate reconditioning estimates for body, detail and mechanic (including PSI) services. Estimates will include but not be limited to, commercial, dealer, rental and retail customers as well as any lot or internal damage. - Communicate estimates in required formats (i.e., electronic, email, written, etc.) required to meet all internal and external customer expectations. - Work with Procurement/Purchasing staff to assure accurate pricing of parts and supplies required for estimates. - Monitor repair status, completion timelines, transportation and customer communications related to approved reconditioning estimates, as directed by management. - Visibly demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling the behaviors related to such.
