Job Description

Commercial Property Claims Adjuster

MDD Forensic Accountants

• Determine, evaluate, investigate, negotiate and resolve quota share and single insurer property claims • Verify coverage under the applicable Commercial Property insurance policy • Coordinate with field adjusters and experts for inspections or further investigation • Review supporting documentation submitted for the claims and properly note the details of the review within the file • Analyze damage estimates and repair costs as well as review vendor invoices for accuracy • Identify potential issues such as fraud, duplicate claims, or policy exclusions • Communicate with policyholders, adjusters, contractors, and other stakeholders regularly to ensure constant claim progression and keep all involved parties updated • Prepare written status and large loss reports for clients, including Reservation of Rights and Coverage Position Letters • Handle appeals or disputes related to claim decisions • Attend mediations and settlement conferences as necessary • Direct and monitor defense counsel to settle litigated claims • Provide monetary authority and strategy to counsel to ensure client’s money and claims are protected • Present and explain claim overviews to business partners on a monthly basis • Participate in audits and quality control reviews • Stay updated on industry trends, policy changes, and best practices

Job Requirements

  • Results-oriented professional with strong organizational skills
  • Strong knowledge in Commercial Property Claims management
  • Ability to verify coverage under the applicable Commercial Property insurance policy
  • Background in both Excess & Surplus Lines (Lloyds) as well as Standard carrier programs
  • Ability to plan, organize and establish priorities to maintain various responsibilities under critical deadlines
  • Ability to review and interpret routine and complex policy contracts and coverage
  • Knowledge of current case law, statutory law, DOI regulations, etc. that apply to claims practices and issues within the territory of operation
  • Ability to prepare detailed reports and recommendations to clients
  • Ability to analyze and research legal and claim trends
  • Possess sound analytical and negotiation skills

Role Description The WC Senior Claims Specialist handles complex and high-profile Workers' Compensation claims following company standards. This role works closely with case managers and attorneys, manages subrogation, and negotiates settlements. The Senior Claims Specialist ensures the best possible outcome for the claim, meeting customer service expectations, and supporting the goals of the Claims Department and CorVel. This is a remote position.
