Senior Program Associate - Product Management

Role Description WRI India is seeking a Senior Program Associate - Product Management to lead the strategy, development, and scale of digital products and open-source. Reporting to the Program Director and working closely with senior engineers, UX designers, and research leads, you will own the end-to-end product lifecycle — from user discovery and roadmap definition to delivery, adoption, and measurement — for geospatial tools, data dashboards, decision-support platforms, and DPI components built for government, civil society, and research audiences. What You Will Do - Product strategy and roadmap leadership (30%): - Own and drive the product vision, strategy, and multi-quarter roadmap for WRI India's digital platforms. - Lead product discovery: user research, needs assessments, stakeholder consultations, and competitive landscape reviews. - Translate complex research objectives, policy priorities, and technical constraints into clear, user-centred product requirements. - Define and maintain the Product Backlog across multiple workstreams. - Evaluate and set standards for product tooling, Agile practices, and team workflows. - Identify opportunities to build reusable, interoperable product components. - Product development and delivery (30%): - Lead cross-functional delivery teams from MVP definition through iterative release cycles. - Serve as the primary bridge between technical teams and program stakeholders. - Collaborate with the senior engineering lead on architectural and infrastructure decisions. - Manage relationships with external development vendors and partners. - Oversee QA processes, user acceptance testing, and product launch activities. - Drive adoption of AI-assisted product features. - Analytics, monitoring, evaluation, and learning (20%): - Define, track, and report on product KPIs. - Conduct regular product reviews using data, user feedback, and field insights. - Produce product reports, case studies, and learning materials. - Stakeholder engagement and fundraising (20%): - Engage proactively with government agencies, civil society partners, and research institutions. - Represent WRI India in external forums. - Contribute to grant proposals, technical annexures, and partnership documentation. - Support the transition of WRI India's digital products to sustainable platforms. - Mentor and guide junior product associates and cross-functional team members. Qualifications - Master's degree in information systems, computer science, product management, public policy, environmental management, human-computer interaction (HCI), or a related discipline. - 4 - 7 years of professional experience, with at least 2 years in a product management or product ownership role. - Demonstrated experience leading the full product lifecycle end-to-end. - Strong understanding of web-based platforms, data systems, APIs, and geospatial or environmental digital infrastructure. - Experience working with multidisciplinary teams and complex stakeholder ecosystems. - Familiarity with geospatial concepts and tools is a strong advantage. - Experience with AI and ML product features is highly desirable. - Proven ability to write compelling product documentation, user stories, and technical briefs.
