Role Description As Specialist of Government Affairs and Public Policy, you will drive and defend legislation, regulations, and government policies that reduce the suffering of animals used for food, enable increased market share of plant-based and cell-based foods and build relationships with key stakeholders in order to build support for MFA India’s work, primarily in India. - Identify and develop strategies that further the mission and objectives of MFA’s legislative and regulatory priorities. - Create and monitor campaigns plans through appropriate research and analysis, monitor and modify as appropriate, and implement strategies to achieve identified objectives. - Work at the local, state and central levels, working with legislators and regulatory agencies to advance MFA policy initiatives. - Work with the Communications and Organizing departments to maximize the impact of our campaigns and asks by increasing public support and pressure. - Build, manage, and lead coalitions to expand support for MFA’s legislative priorities, developing coalitions with a variety of stakeholders where common interests intersect, including non-traditional coalition members. - Manage the work product of contract lobbyists to ensure they are delivering results aligned with MFA’s mission. - Prepare persuasive letters, memoranda, and other written materials. - Foster relationships and collaboration with individuals, institutions, and organizations to positively influence and gain support for MFA initiatives. - Work with legal affairs team to ensure that MFA remains compliant with all laws relating to lobbying. - Adhere to all people operations/HR and administrative policies and procedures. - Perform any other duties assigned by supervisor. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Social science. - Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience and proven track record of working with elected officials and bureaucrats to advance legislative, regulatory and campaign initiatives. - Knowledge of central and state legislative and regulatory processes. - Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking and the ability to make high impact presentations. - High level of integrity, interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain trusted relationships. - Ability to simultaneously work on multiple issues of varying complexity, while meeting time-sensitive deadlines and deliverables. - Ability to work both independently and as an effective team member. - Professional appearance and adherence to a vegan lifestyle. - Commitment to the mission and values of the organization. - Willingness to travel frequently without much notice. Compensation The annual Cost to Company (CTC) for this position is INR 8,00,000 per annum, subject to applicable taxes, statutory deductions, and company policies.
