Role Description The Sr. Manager, Accounting will lead a team responsible for overseeing the accounting operations within the Practice Management Accounting organization. This role is pivotal in ensuring operational excellence, financial integrity, and strategic alignment with enterprise goals. The ideal candidate will be a people-first leader with a strong command of accounting principles, a passion for talent development, and the ability to influence across functions. What You’ll Do (Responsibilities) - Strategic Financial Leadership - Lead the monthly close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting across assigned practices. - Oversee the preparation and review of segment-level financial statements and analytics. - Serve as the primary liaison for internal and external audit engagements, including SOX compliance and Risk Control Group (RCG) process development. - Drive enterprise-first thinking by aligning accounting practices with broader organizational goals and transformation initiatives. - Operational Excellence & Controls - Manage and continuously improve departmental processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability. - Ensure a robust control environment, including the development and maintenance of SOX narratives and risk mitigation strategies. - Identify and implement McKesson best practices to streamline workflows and reduce manual effort. - Cross-Functional Collaboration - Act as a key contact for business leaders and customers, providing financial insights and decision support. - Facilitate timely and accurate communication with internal and external stakeholders. - Partner with Controllers, Accounting Managers, and Senior Accountants to ensure alignment and consistency across the accounting function. - People Leadership & Talent Development - Build and lead a high-performing team by fostering a culture of accountability, empowerment, and continuous improvement. - Champion talent development by mentoring team members, identifying growth opportunities, and building succession plans. - Promote diversity of thought and inclusive leadership practices to strengthen team dynamics and innovation. - Process Transformation & Change Management - Lead or support enterprise-wide finance transformation initiatives, including automation, system upgrades, and process redesign. - Encourage a mindset of change readiness and adaptability within the team. - Use data-driven insights to challenge the status quo and elevate the standard of excellence across the organization. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree required and 9+ years of accounting and reporting experience and 1+ years of supervisory and/or management experience. Less years required if has relevant Master’s qualifications. - Advanced degree in accounting or finance preferred. - CPA preferred. Requirements - Can demonstrate mastery knowledge level of full cycle accounting. - Expert-level Excel experience. - Experience reaching the desired audience, able to train/coach others. - Effective oral and written communication, including presentation delivery to leaders. - Must have a demonstrated ability to lead projects or handle large, complex processes. - Attract, select, and develop the highest caliber of talent available. - Proven ability to multi-task while meeting various deadlines.
