Role Description The Business Intelligence Analyst is a member of the Enterprise Data team responsible for designing, optimizing, and governing the organization’s BI and analytics ecosystem. This role focuses on building scalable semantic models, architecting reusable data structures, and ensuring that enterprise BI systems operate efficiently, securely, and reliably. The BI Analyst partners with data engineering, MDM, business leaders, and BI Specialists to enable high-quality, governed, and performant analytics across the company. This position is pivotal to advancing BI maturity by establishing standards, implementing automation, shaping BI architecture, and ensuring that reporting and analytics capabilities are built on trusted, enterprise-grade data foundations. Duties and Responsibilities - Enterprise Architecture & Modeling - Architect and maintain enterprise semantic models, visualizations, and reusable data structures to support scalable analytics across business domains. - Define and enforce modeling standards, naming conventions, metadata requirements, and enterprise KPIs. - Serve as the primary owner of the Power BI semantic layer, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and performance. - Partner with data engineering to align lakehouse/warehouse structures with downstream BI needs. - BI Platform Engineering & Governance - Establish and manage BI governance frameworks, including version control, lifecycle management, documentation standards, and dataset certification processes. - Implement and optimize dataset refresh strategies, incremental refresh, partitioning, and performance tuning. - Develop and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines for BI assets across development, QA, and production environments. - Ensure BI systems comply with data security, access control, and data governance policies. - Pipeline, Data Quality, and System Optimization - Design and optimize ETL/ELT processes in coordination with data engineering teams. - Implement monitoring, alerting, observability, and root-cause analysis processes for BI pipelines, datasets, and dashboards. - Lead performance troubleshooting efforts across SQL, semantic models, and dataset configurations. - Strategic Leadership & Roadmap Contribution - Contribute to and influence the Enterprise Data analytics roadmap, making recommendations on architecture, tooling, automation, and governance improvements. - Evaluate emerging BI technologies, AI agents, and automation capabilities, advising on adoption and enterprise impact. - Lead cross-functional design reviews for major BI initiatives, ensuring alignment with enterprise data strategy. - Collaboration, Enablement, and Mentorship - Collaborate with business leaders to translate strategic objectives into analytic frameworks and enterprise data models. - Mentor BI Specialists and business users on visualization standards, data literacy, and best practices for semantic model consumption. - Provide technical leadership and consultation on high-impact analytics projects. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field. - 7+ years of hands-on experience in BI engineering or analytics architecture, preferably within the Microsoft BI ecosystem. - Expert-level proficiency in Power BI modeling, including DAX, Power Query (M), relationships, incremental refresh, partitions, and DirectQuery strategies. - Strong understanding of SQL development, query optimization, indexing, and data warehouse concepts. - Experience developing and managing BI pipelines, ETL/ELT workflows, and data validations. - Familiarity with Databricks or similar big data platforms preferred. - Experience designing and implementing CI/CD, DevOps, or automation frameworks for BI assets. - Strong understanding of data governance, access control, security roles, and BI lifecycle management. - Demonstrated ability to lead architecture discussions, drive standards, and influence enterprise data strategy. - Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for business audiences. - Strong problem-solving, leadership, and analytical skills with a continuous improvement mindset. Work Environment - Office and occasional manufacturing environment; may require PPE in certain settings. - Occasional evening and weekend work to meet deadlines. - Ability to travel as needed for offsite integration efforts or conferences. - Manual dexterity and visual acuity to operate standard office equipment. - Ability to work remotely if necessary.
