Role Description The Technical Specialist – Cost Engineering role focuses on establishing and managing a standardized suite of cost engineering services within project services. This position is part of the TAO (Technical and Administrative Operations) team and will provide remote support from locations such as Chennai, Kuala Lumpur, or Manila. Technical Asset Support (TAS) teams assist various Shell business units including: - Downstream-Manufacturing/Chemicals - Integrated Gas & New Energies - Upstream - Other corporate functions The Projects Portfolio Cost Engineer scope involves supporting the delivery of consistent and appropriate cost management structures/tools/processes for Portfolio of small Capital Projects (site) throughout all the phases. - Assist the development and implementation of CBS (Cost Breakdown Structure) for Capital Projects portfolio, the estimate breakdown, and WBS (as applicable). - Set up SAP Blueprint (Upgrader) and GSAP (Refinery/Chemicals) with project CBS and budget information accordingly. - GSAP AFE set up (including funds release), BP and GSAP Networks (CBS) set up, Asset Creation in GSAP, Networks close-out, PO status report generation (from GSAP and BP and TRACK), BP/GSAP Cost reports generation (Monthly exercise), Time-writing by exception (Shell staff) Monthly exercise, Productivity Reporting (weekly). - Support implementation of Cost Control Processes: Embed and maintain in Shell and Contractor processes; Commitment capture, VOWD (Value of Work Done), Cost forecasting/phasing and Earned Value Management consistent with Shell procedures. - Establish Cost Report content and frequency, prepare and conduct budget holder reviews, and publish. - Support Contracts and Procurement group by providing detailed cost and performance analysis. - Monitor the work hour consumption and associated cost of the Contractor activities against the contractual targets such that potential deviations are identified, and the appropriate corrective actions are taken. - Deliver accurate/high-quality monthly Estimate Forecasts for Projects & Portfolios. - Assist in the maintenance of Change/Trend and Contingency Management: ensure that appropriate changes/trends are reflected in the regular cost forecast updates. - Prepare forecasts and review with budget holders. - Establish linkage between Change/Trend Management and Contingency Management, perform the Contingency drawdown and ensure accurate current status is reflected in reports. - Assist Cost Reporting: generation of accurate monthly cost reports, including variances from the plan on commitment, value of work done, management of changes and currency fluctuations against approved Authorities For Expenditure (AFEs). - Coordinate with finance operation for monthly MJE & Accruals. - Participate and comply with all safety programs. - Assist with the continuous improvement and implementation of standardized work processes for effective cost control. - Provide coaching and mentoring to the new joiners and the junior team members of the team. - Virtual working with key stakeholders for day to day operations. - Effective initiative to identify and help resolve business and technical issues within areas of responsibility. - Exposes the individual to all cultural backgrounds and organizational levels across the globe, across diverse time zones. • Lead the electrical engineering process for a wide variety of projects for industrial facilities • Collaborate with electrical designers and a multi-disciplinary team to prepare a detailed drawing package and engineering deliverables • Complete medium and low voltage electrical engineering calculations and documentation packages, plans, sections, and details for electrical design projects according to industry, client, and company standards • Appropriately apply and have extensive knowledge of relevant codes: NFPA 70, 70E, 30, 58, and 497, NEMA, API 500 & 540, IEEE and others as required • Coordinate project deliverables, deadlines, and speak to interdisciplinary needs for a given project among the engineering team • Develop and check one-line diagrams, conduit plans, grounding plans, area classification plans, control panel layout and bills of materials, lighting plans, P&ID's, PLC & DCS wiring diagrams and motor schematics • Confidently speak with clients and electrical utilities on new or upgraded service installations • Coordinate with mechanical, civil, process, and structural engineers to identify potential conflicts and/or efficiencies with the electrical design • Support business development opportunities and assist in marketing efforts (proposal preparation, scope, budget, etc.) • Perform contractor construction submittal reviews and request for information documents and general electrical design activities for industrial facilities • Coordinate with equipment vendors on behalf of clients to review and approve specifications • Continuously seek improvement for yourself and for the department • Travel within the United States 15% to 20% for site investigations, design reviews, and construction support

Role Description The Electrical Engineer will support solar and renewable energy projects by developing and reviewing electrical and solar system designs using Rated Power and AutoCAD. This role will ensure technical accuracy and efficiency by preparing design packs, creating diagrams and layouts, and integrating civil, mechanical, and electrical inputs. - Develop and review electrical and solar system designs using Rated Power and AutoCAD, ensuring optimal efficiency and technical accuracy. - Prepare detailed design packs for internal projects and external tenders (as required). - Create single-line diagrams, cable schedules, and electrical layout drawings in alignment with project specifications and New Zealand regulations. - Design efficient solar farm layouts that take into account topography, shading, resource consent conditions, and grid connection requirements. - Integrate civil, mechanical, and electrical design inputs to ensure system cohesion and constructability. - Support the in-house development of solar projects from feasibility through to consent submission. - Evaluate design alternatives to optimise cost-benefit outcomes, balancing performance and capital efficiency. - Assist in preparing documentation for resource consent applications and liaise with consultants and local authorities when needed. - Contribute to project scoping and tender documentation when invited by clients. - Provide engineering support during construction, ensuring electrical installations align with design intent and standards. - Assist in resolving technical issues during installation and commissioning phases. - Prepare as-built documentation post-construction, including updated drawings and compliance verification reports. - Collaborate with multidisciplinary consultants and contractors, reviewing their electrical and solar design deliverables. - Identify potential design improvements or risks early in the project lifecycle. - Participate in internal design and coordination meetings to ensure alignment across engineering and project teams. - Other roles specific duties as they arise. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification. - 5+ years’ experience in electrical design, preferably within solar or renewable energy projects. - Experience in the Australian or New Zealand energy markets, with an understanding of local standards, codes, and consenting processes. - Experience performing PVsyst simulations and energy yield analysis for solar PV projects advantageous. - Proficiency in Rated Power for solar system modelling and AutoCAD for design drafting. - Knowledge of electrical design standards, grid connection requirements, and HV/LV system layouts. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance design efficiency and cost. - Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical stakeholders. - Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality design documentation. - Experience with large-scale or utility solar farms in Australia or New Zealand. - Familiarity with PV system optimisation, grid compliance, and inverter design principles. - Demonstrated ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively within a project team. - Passion for renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure development is desirable.
