Senior Synapse Engineer

Ness Digital Engineering

• Build Synapse pipelines, SQL transformations, datasets, and linked services. • Translate Alteryx logic into Synapse SQL, PySpark, or Data Flows. • Tune performance of dedicated SQL pools (partitioning, indexing, caching). • Implement CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps or GitHub. • Configure and manage data security, RLS, access roles, and auditing. • Optimize ADLS Gen2 folder structures, file formats, and Delta/Parquet usage. • Collaborate with the Data Modeller to ensure accurate implementation of models. • Monitor Synapse environments, performance, costs, and autoscaling. • Troubleshoot issues across ingestion, transformation, orchestration phases. • Provide architectural guidance and platform best practices.

Job Requirements

  • 8+ years in data engineering with 3+ years in Azure Synapse.
  • Strong T‑SQL, ETL/ELT pipeline development, and workload optimization.
  • Experience migrating Alteryx, SSIS, Databricks, or equivalent ETL systems.
  • Knowledge of Delta Lake, Parquet, partitioning, schema evolution.
  • CI/CD experience in Azure DevOps, Git, environment promotion.
