• Build Synapse pipelines, SQL transformations, datasets, and linked services. • Translate Alteryx logic into Synapse SQL, PySpark, or Data Flows. • Tune performance of dedicated SQL pools (partitioning, indexing, caching). • Implement CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps or GitHub. • Configure and manage data security, RLS, access roles, and auditing. • Optimize ADLS Gen2 folder structures, file formats, and Delta/Parquet usage. • Collaborate with the Data Modeller to ensure accurate implementation of models. • Monitor Synapse environments, performance, costs, and autoscaling. • Troubleshoot issues across ingestion, transformation, orchestration phases. • Provide architectural guidance and platform best practices.
Job Requirements
- 8+ years in data engineering with 3+ years in Azure Synapse.
- Strong T‑SQL, ETL/ELT pipeline development, and workload optimization.
- Experience migrating Alteryx, SSIS, Databricks, or equivalent ETL systems.
- Knowledge of Delta Lake, Parquet, partitioning, schema evolution.
- CI/CD experience in Azure DevOps, Git, environment promotion.

• Support engineering execution on-site from test plan through steady-state operation • Translate P&IDs, process designs, and engineering packages into installed, commissioned systems in the field • Manage day-to-day technical activities on-site: contractor coordination, punch lists, field modifications, and issue resolution • Monitor system performance against design intent and flag technical issues clearly and quickly • Serve as Mantel's day-to-day engineering point of contact with the host site and its technical teams • Coordinate with EPC contractors, equipment vendors, and host-site operations staff • Maintain a safe, professional, and collaborative site environment at all times • Maintain accurate site records: as-builts, field change notices, commissioning logs, and performance data • Produce clear, concise site updates and engineering reports for the VP of Engineering and broader project team • Support data collection and system monitoring for technical validation of the demonstration • Surface field observations and operational insights that inform design refinement and scale-up • Work closely with the engineering team to close the loop between design intent and real-world performance
• Execute pre-commissioning and commissioning activities under the direction of the Commissioning Director • Walkdowns, loop checks, interlock verification, flushing, leak testing, and startup sequencing • Coordinate day-to-day on-site activities with contractors, trades, and host-site operations personnel • Maintain accurate commissioning records: completed procedures, punch lists, test results, and field observations • Execute all work in compliance with site safety requirements, LOTO procedures, and Mantel's operating standards
