Manager, Tax Operations – State Allocation
Natera
• Oversee multi-state taxable income sourcing and allocation for wages and equity compensation. • Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant delivery of taxable data to Payroll, Equity Administration, and Finance teams. • Populate and certify state-level taxable wage and equity data prior to payroll runs. • Act as the “source of truth” for state-allocated tax data. • Design and maintain SOX-compliant controls over state tax allocation and data certification. • Partner closely with Payroll, Equity Administration, HR, and Finance.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or related field.
- 6–10+ years of experience in State and local taxation (SALT) and Payroll tax and/or equity compensation taxation.
- Strong knowledge of multi-state wage sourcing and equity tax rules.
- Experience in a publicly traded company or Big 4 / large multinational environment.
- Familiarity with SOX controls and audit requirements.
- Ability to translate tax rules into operational processes and system requirements.

The Tax Team are responsible for global tax compliance and reporting. You will support the team for 12 months with one-off US projects. You will work with our in-house tax and finance teams and external consultants to deliver important insights into US tax operations for the group. What You'll Do You'll partner with the in-house tax team, reporting to the Director of Tax. The team consists of two Senior Managers and two Senior Finance Analysts. Important aspects of the role include: - IRS audit: Provide technical and practical insights into ongoing IRS audits including reviewing IDRs, preparing draft responses and engaging with external advisors. Advising on our engagement with the IRS, including attending meetings. - State tax audit: Provide technical and practical insights into ongoing state audits across all taxes. Partnering with external advisors and the auditors. - Sales tax process improvement: Help implement a sales tax process improvement plan with support from external advisors. - Business change: Provide insight into the US tax consequences of business change including organic growth and M&A. - US tax administration: Support US cross-tax administration activities, including developing proposals for process improvement and remediation. Experience That Will Put You Ahead Of The Curve - Qualified US tax advisor or CPA - Experienced at managing US taxes within an MNC including practical first hand experience managing the IRS. - 10+ years experience of quickly assimilating business understanding and delivering recommendations. You have likely gained this from other fixed term contract roles. - Able to perform analytical review and summarize findings with insights and clear recommendations. - Confidence and experience engaging with senior partners, building relationships, and influencing decision-making.
