Senior Data Governance Engineer
Avenga
• Ensure the correct cataloging, documentation, and organization of data • Enable secure and efficient data consumption across the organization • Manage, maintain, and scale the corporate data catalog using Microsoft Purview • Define, document, and maintain business glossaries, taxonomies, and clear data classifications • Ensure end-to-end data traceability and lineage from origin to final consumption • Coordinate closely with Data Stewards, Data Engineers, and Architects to enforce governance standards across platforms • Manage data-related security, privacy, and compliance policies • Facilitate catalog adoption by providing training, user guides, and direct support to business users • Monitor and collaborate on data quality initiatives • Document corporate guidelines, best practices, and operational processes related to data governance.
Job Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in Data Curator or Data Governance roles
- Proven experience in Microsoft Purview administration (cataloging, lineage, classification, and user/role management)
- Technical knowledge of Databricks, including data processing, pipelines, and integration with Purview
- Solid experience with Power BI, particularly within governance and self-service reporting frameworks
- Strong knowledge of data modeling, data quality standards, and data governance methodologies
- Analytical mindset with clear communication skills and the ability to interact with multidisciplinary teams and business stakeholders
- Nice-to-have skills: Experience implementing recognized Data Governance frameworks (such as DAMA, DCAM, etc.)
- Knowledge of compliance, privacy regulations, and sensitive data protection
- Professional certifications in Microsoft Purview or general Data Governance
- Previous experience within the insurance or financial services sectors.
