Job Description
Project Manager, USRM Software Product Operations
Liberty Mutual
Role Description Leads AI enablement for Product Owners (POs) within USRM’s Software Product Operations Team. Accountable for making AI practical in day-to-day PO work—reducing manual effort, improving consistency of artifacts, and accelerating delivery quality. Owns the AI Office Hours program, PO-facing AI repository (prompts, templates, guidance), and the change management needed to drive sustained adoption. This is an individual contributor role focused on enablement and program leadership (not platform ownership or vendor management). While the focus of this role will be AI enablement for Product Owners, this role may also flex into other Project Management responsibilities across the Software Product Operations Team, including Portfolio Operations, Business Architecture, and broader Product Enablement efforts. This role may have in-office requirements depending on candidate location. Key Accountabilities - PO AI Enablement - Partner with Product Management, Tech/tool owners, and early adopters to identify high-friction PO workflows and surface relevant AI solutions (e.g., prompts, templates, usage patterns). - Curate and maintain PO-facing guidance mapped to Product Development Lifecycle phases (discovery, backlog refinement, requirements documentation, OKR/roadmaps, stakeholder comms), with vetted prompts/templates and governance notes. - Pilot new tools and workflows with early adopters; capture examples and lessons learned; publish simple “how to” guides that teams can adopt quickly. - Represent product excellence and change management in day-to-day program management for AI in the Product Development Lifecycle initiative in partnership with Technology, advocating for uses cases where we need experimentation for new tools and creating communication and enablement for POs when tooling decisions are finalized. - AI Training, Office Hours, and Community - Own the recurring AI Office Hours: plan topics, recruit speakers, facilitate sessions, and publish artifacts/recordings. - Maintain the PO AI Resource Repository (hub/wiki) as the single source of truth for PO-relevant AI content. Collaborate with others who are leveraging this content across the org to inform them of updates and changes. - Manage an Early Adopter/Guild cohort to source use cases and blockers; amplify peer examples to accelerate adoption. - Change Management and Stakeholder Alignment - Drive role-based enablement with clear roles and responsibilities across Product, Engineering, and Business partners. - Partner with Agile leaders to align AI guidance with current standards; ensure changes land with teams. - Coordinate with Portfolio Ops, Business Architecture, and Analytics to embed AI enablement into operating forums and communications. - Build strong partnerships with POs/DPOs, Product Enablement, Business Architecture, Portfolio Ops, legal/compliance, security, tool owners (e.g., Microsoft Copilot), and enterprise AI teams. - Communicate progress, risks, and needs succinctly to senior product leadership; capture and act on feedback. - AI in the PDLC Initiative — Program Management (Product Excellence scope) - Prepare leader-ready updates and facilitate a bi‑weekly leaders’ sync focused on product practices (requirements documentation, OKRs/roadmaps, backlog quality). - Track cross-domain actions to closure; maintain a lightweight roadmap of enablement milestones and practice changes for POs/DPOs. Qualifications - Strong knowledge of project management principles and concepts. - Strong ability to manage all aspects of the project management life cycle. - Proficient with project management tools. - Project management certification strongly preferred. - Displays strong communication, organizational, analytical, critical thinking, and team building skills. - Advanced presentation, influencing, and relationship management skills. - Strong business operations knowledge to include understanding the function's value chain and market conditions strongly preferred. - Competencies typically acquired through a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Advanced degree preferred. - Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience to include project management work. Requirements - 5+ years in product operations, program/project management, or product management in a software setting; proven record of cross-functional enablement. - Hands-on, confident daily user of enterprise AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT/Claude/Gemini); able to document and teach effective prompts and usage patterns. - Experience with Product Delivery Lifecycle practices and workflow (backlog refinement, requirements, OKR/roadmaps, stakeholder communications). - Strong facilitation and change management skills. - Excellent communication and content curation skills (guides, templates, live demos); exec-ready storytelling with data. - Familiarity with Jira/Confluence (or equivalents) and comfort partnering on data with analytics teams (e.g., Shibumi/Power BI). - Experience managing others indirectly or directly through project work.
