Role Description The Patient Flow Nurse (Registered Nurse role) for Virtual Care is responsible for facilitating the seamless and efficient flow of patients through virtual healthcare services. This role involves coordinating and managing the scheduling, triaging, and any follow-up processes to ensure patients receive timely and high-quality virtual care services. The coordinator will collaborate with healthcare providers, patients, and administrative staff to optimize the virtual care experience and contribute to overall patient satisfaction. The patient flow coordinator requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively under pressure to ensure that patients receive appropriate and timely care based on their medical needs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Scheduling and Visit Triage: - Coordinate / oversee the scheduling of virtual appointments, ensuring alignment with healthcare providers' availability and patients' preferences. - Co-ordinate flow of patients to determine the urgency of their healthcare needs and appropriately prioritize appointments / visits. - Prioritize patients between sites making informed decisions regarding appropriate level of care. - Provider Collaboration: - Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize their virtual care schedules and prioritize appointments / visits ensuring efficient utilization of their time and skills. - Communicate patient-specific information and instructions to providers before virtual booked appointments. - Documentation and Data Entry: - Oversight of accurate and up-to-date medical records ensures relevant patient information, appointment details, and outcomes of virtual visits. - Generate and share virtual care reports with relevant stakeholders as needed. - Follow-up and Coordination of lab results. - Ensure that patients’ results are communicated as per relevant processes. - Follow process for communicating critical lab results. - Collaborate with other healthcare team members to ensure continuity of care for patients transitioning between virtual and in-person services. Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in nursing or equivalent work experience, and in good standing with governing College. - Competence in CTAS (Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale) in a fast-paced environment. - Adherence to the Emergency Nursing Scope and Standards of Canadian Practice (National Emergency Nurses Association, 2018). - Experience in healthcare coordination, scheduling, and administration. - Current CTAS certification with +5 years’ experience. - Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems. - Previous exposure to telemedicine or virtual care services. - Additional certifications: ACLS, Telephone Triage Nursing Certification preferred. - Strong organizational and time-management skills to manage virtual appointment schedules effectively. - Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients, healthcare providers, and administrative staff. - Familiarity with virtual care platforms and basic technical troubleshooting. - Knowledge of medical terminology and basic understanding of healthcare processes. - Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team. - Attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining patient records and documentation. - Empathy and compassion when dealing with patients' health concerns and needs. - Understanding of healthcare compliance and patient privacy regulations. - Multiple provincial nursing licenses are an asset. - Excellent written, verbal, and documentation skills. - Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask with ease. - Standout colleague with strong interpersonal skills. - Quality driven with a focus on flawless customer service. Role Description This role will be key to further develop the country capabilities in clinical research. Under the oversight of the country or cluster CRD, the person will be responsible for the end-to-end performance of clinical trials in 1 or several TA, from feasibility to close out in 1 or several countries. The role should be responsible for 30 to 50 clinical trials and will ensure excellent study performance with strict adherence to local regulations, our company SOPs, and ICH GCP. The role is responsible for oversight of all the employees working in the TA, with line management for CRMs and functional oversight of other roles in his studies. As line manager, the role is critical to develop key talents in the organization to ensure a pool of successors in critical roles. The role will work at country level with other local stakeholders like GMA, Our Global Human Health Division, PV, and regulatory to ensure alignment and development of the country capabilities and can represent the CRD of cluster in local management if required. CRD can delegate certain key tasks as needed. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: - Will lead 1 or several TA of the growing portfolio in the country. - Accountable for the successful execution, enrollment, and quality of their clinical trial portfolio. - Accountable to ensure timelines and key milestones are met. - Accountable for performance metrics. - Accountable to develop operational strategies and quality plans for the conduct of all programs and studies in the TA portfolio. - Collaborates with other TA directors, local and regional stakeholders in GCTO to develop and build territory of principal investigators and sites. - Ensures oversight and line management of Clinical Research Manager (CRM) team within TA. - Leads team independently with supervision from CRD to high performance. - Accountable for CRM performance reviews, including addressing low performance situations, and taking appropriate actions. - Ensures key talent development and retention. - Collaborates and works closely with other stakeholders in the TA in GCTO & GCD regional and headquarter teams, quality, finance, IT, and HR. - Collaborates externally with investigators, regulators, and vendors. - Member of the GCTO country leadership team. - Supports strategic initiatives across Global Clinical Development GCD and GCTO. - Supports local strategy development consistent with long-term corporate needs in conjunction with CRD. - Together with direct reports contributes significantly to effective conduct of clinical studies and to develop the pipeline, while maintaining regulatory requirements and compliance. This position impacts directly the country’s ability to reach business targets and objectives and ensures that productive collaboration with internal and external business partners are built. Qualifications - Minimum of 10 years’ experience in clinical trial organization. - Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a functional management position. - CRA, project management, and CRM experience (preferred). - Line management experience (preferred).
