• Select, price and develop coverage terms for small commercial lines accounts to achieve profitable underwriting results and assist with providing leadership, support and coaching for the underwriting function • Review new business applications to evaluate degree of risk involved • Accept or decline risks based on company’s underwriting policies • Review application for completeness • Contact agents for missing or incomplete information • Using sound underwriting judgment and technical skills, and continued personal development to meet the company goals of quality and timeliness • Assist data entry unit on the processing of new business, renewals, policy changes and all other related transactions • Interpret insurance coverage’s for agents and insureds; answer telephone inquiries from agents and insureds regarding coverages and pricing • Maintain and establish good working relationship with agents and communicate underwriting decisions to agents and insureds • Review policy renewal information to determine if properly priced based on exposure; determine if policy should be renewed based on company criteria • Review and approval all policy changes submitted • Assist other functions or departments with enhancing and developing existing products in order to enhance the underwriting process
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree is preferred with a background in insurance or equivalent experience
- One (1) to Three (3) years of commercial experience at a company or agency level is preferred
- Commercial Technical Assistant’s with a minimum of 2 years’ experience will also be considered
- Demonstration of self-development through attainment of professional insurance designations, CLCS, AU, CPCU, ARM, etc.

Role Description We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Commercial Lines Trucking Underwriter to join our team. You must have direct experience in commercial lines trucking insurance, be fluent in both English and Spanish, and hold an active 220 Insurance License. This remote position requires you to reside outside Florida. Role Description Direct and manage the operations of an Underwriting unit through the recruitment, selection, training, development, motivation, and salary administration of underwriter staff. Specifically, oversee/coordinate division workflow and manage Underwriting projects, customer service initiatives, work efforts and risk analysis of underwriters, with the goal of ensuring a customer-centered communication focus at the agency level. Participate, coordinate, or independently lead complex projects to include major system and process improvement initiatives in the Underwriting Department. Develop, implement, and monitor customer service standards for agency-level staff.
