Job Description
Forward Deployed Engineer III
ShipBob, Inc.
• Employee lifecycle automation: new hires, role changes, terminations, transfers, and leave. Eliminate the manual coordination that currently runs on emails and spreadsheets by building automated task orchestration with SLAs, escalation paths, and audit-ready logs. • Comp planning infrastructure hardening: access controls, versioning, approval workflows, and AI-assisted benchmarking across our SecureSheets environment. • Build a unified People analytics layer connecting ADP Workforce Now, Greenhouse, and Lattice into a governed data model that gives People leaders real workforce intelligence. • Performance and goals connectivity: build the data infrastructure that links performance data in Lattice to workforce decisions. • Spend your first 60 days embedded across every People sub-function, listening, mapping, and building a prioritized automation backlog that you own and execute against. • Establish logging, monitoring, and alerting infrastructure for all automations. Publish reusable modules to the Automation Hub. • Document all production automations to handoff-ready standard. Ensure every automation touching sensitive data has Legal sign-off and complies with HIPAA and PII governance requirements. • Additional duties and responsibilities as necessary.
Job Requirements
- 5-8 years working with enterprise HR systems (ADP, Workday, SuccessFactors, or equivalent) at an integration or implementation level, not just as an end user.
- Demonstrated experience building and deploying AI-assisted workflows in production. Not demos, not proofs of concept, but things that run.
- Sound API integration skills: you have built RESTful integrations from scratch, handled auth and error states, and built things that do not break silently.
- Real depth in access control design for sensitive data. Working knowledge of HIPAA requirements and hands-on experience implementing role-based access controls in systems handling PII.
- Process thinking: you can take an undocumented, messy workflow and produce a clean system flow that exposes every failure mode before you write a line of code.
- High agency. You do not need a fully scoped project list to operate. You find the work.
- Experience with Greenhouse ATS at an API or integration level, preferred.
- Background in comp planning tools or sales incentive software, preferred.
- Familiarity with iPaaS platforms (Workato, Zapier, Boomi) in addition to direct API work, preferred.
- Experience at a high-growth, operationally complex company (logistics, e-commerce, manufacturing), preferred.

PerchwellPerchwell is a real estate technology company headquartered in New York, New York, that provides a modern listings platform designed to help brokers, MLSs, and agents search smarte
Who We Are Perchwell is the modern real estate listings platform built for agents to search smarter, collaborate better, and close deals faster. We are building the future of residential real estateʼs critical listings infrastructure: a platform where market research and client collaboration converge. Our modern architecture enables continuous innovation at a pace legacy systems cannot match, with AI-powered features and mobile-first capabilities designed for how agents actually work. As consumer expectations and technology evolve, Perchwell remains focused on our core vision: empowering real estate professionals with the most intelligent, data-driven, and connected platform in the industry. Backed by leading venture capital firms including Lux Capital and Founders Fund, along with strategic partnerships with some of the country's top Multiple Listing Services (MLSs), Perchwell represents the first major new platform to enter the listings technology market in decades. This unique combination of institutional investment and deep industry alignment provides both the resources and market validation needed to transform the multi-trillion dollar residential real estate industry. What We’re Looking ForPerchwell is expanding the engineering leadership behind our next-generation platform. We're looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead two teams simultaneously: a core platform team building the foundational infrastructure of the new platform, and a customer-facing feature team building the product layer that agents and brokerages interact with daily. This is one of the most consequential roles on our engineering team right now - you'll have real ownership over both teams at a pivotal moment, as we build against aggressive timelines and scale the organization around a platform that doesn't yet exist anywhere else in the industry. This is not a people-management-only role. We need someone who brings genuine technical depth, gets into the weeds when the team hits hard problems, and can hold the line technically while also building a team that scales. What You’ll Do - Own engineering leadership across two teams - core platform and customer-facing features - with full accountability for delivery, team health, and technical direction - Lead, mentor, and grow engineers through coaching, feedback, and hands-on technical guidance - Contribute meaningfully to technical problem solving, particularly around backend systems; this is an actively hands-on role, not a management-from-a-distance one - Drive execution against defined deliverables while helping the team work through open architectural questions that don't yet have clean answers - Balance planned roadmap work with reactive needs while maintaining clear priorities, expectations, and momentum for the team - Strengthen engineering processes including code quality, release readiness, and consistent execution - Collaborate closely with product, design, and other cross-functional stakeholders to align on requirements, scope, and sequencing early in the process - Hire and onboard additional engineers across both teams - Build and sustain a team culture grounded in humility, curiosity, and high standards Required For The Role - 8+ years of software engineering experience with at least 4-5 years managing engineers - Strong backend systems experience - authentication, authorization, configuration, and data infrastructure at scale; frontend familiarity is a plus but backend depth is where you'll have the most immediate impact - Fluency in one or more of Go, TypeScript, Python, Kotlin, or Ruby; familiarity with React is a bonus - Technical depth sufficient to engage credibly with staff-level engineers on hard problems and contribute meaningfully to architectural decisions - Demonstrated ability to lead teams through both execution-focused delivery and open-ended technical problem solving - Experience managing teams of 5-10 engineers, with comfort scaling toward that range - Proven ability to operate with autonomy in fast-moving, high-ambiguity environments Preferred Qualifications - Experience with GCP or comparable cloud infrastructure - Real estate or proptech background - Hands-on experience with authentication and authorization systems at scale - Background in organizations that scaled engineering teams rapidly Who Thrives In This Role - Technically credible and willing to prove it: comfortable engaging with staff-level engineers on hard problems without needing to be the expert in every room - Humble and self-aware: this team is full of genuinely smart people, and the best candidates will find that energizing rather than threatening - Disciplined and quality-minded: you prefer long-term solutions over short-term patches and bring order to fast-moving, high-volume environments - Curious and self-directed: you have a demonstrated pattern of diving into unfamiliar domains and getting up to speed fast - Customer-obsessed and outcome-driven: you're energized by building for real users with urgent needs and hold yourself accountable to results, not just effort - Highly collaborative, especially with non-engineering teams: you understand that the best outcomes come from tight cross-functional partnerships Salary Range:The compensation for this position is $200-$255K base salary + equity + benefits. To provide greater transparency to candidates, we share base salary ranges for all US-based job postings regardless of state. Our ranges are based on function and level benchmarked against similar stage growth companies. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including skills, job-related knowledge and depth of work experience. Benefits - Flexible PTO, plus 10 paid company holidays - 401K with a company match - Medical, dental, and vision plans - HSA and FSA options - Commuter benefits - Parental leave - Company-wide onsite or offsite each year - Beautiful office in Soho, Manhattan with a stocked kitchen, catered breakfast and lunch once per week, happy hours and meet-ups Note: At this time, we are only considering candidates who are authorized to work in the U.S.
