Role Description The Market Development Engineer - Consumer & Industrial is responsible for driving new customers, targets and opportunities in targeted markets with translation to other accounts or adjacent markets. Drives material specification at OEM’s, tiers and molders. Develops working knowledge of market value chain. Provides technical knowledge (material selection, part & mold design) regarding performance and characteristics of Celanese products and offers technical support during and after the sales process. - Targets new customers in selected market space. - Generates opportunities for new business growth. - Manages internal new product development (NPD), testing, computer-aided engineering and external developments to drive projects to close. - Works with new customers to determine potential applications and best Celanese material solutions. - Works with Account Manager at existing customers to develop new applications and provide technical support as needed. - Provides technical support at existing customers as needed. - Manages Technical Exchanges at new and existing customers. Qualifications - Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science or Technical Field. - 5 Years in plastics or related field. Technical and business or market development experience required. - Ability to work with customers to develop a tailored solution. - Develop deep customer and market knowledge. Draw connections to foresee future trends and develop opportunities to grow and innovate. - Ability to interact, influence and facilitate at several levels of the organization. - Must be willing to prospect for new customers/projects and develop strategies for identifying and targeting new customers and segment strategies. - Willingness to travel - 50%. • The primary purpose of the role will be to deliver, support and maintain quality software solutions covering a range of policy administration and ancillary systems. • Assisting in change work to provide product support to fix or assist in the resolution of complex of high severity problems. • Use functional documents and high-level designs to produce signed off Detailed Technical Specs subjected to full review process. • Work with team leader to provide estimates for the plan and allocation of work. • Produce signed off specifications for development work. • Ensure all work is delivered to plan and written to team standards. • Peer review of work & sign off where required. • Keep documents up to date and consistent with plan. • Assist Project Managers, Team manager to deliver projects on time and to spec. • Provide walkthroughs, demos to business to satisfaction. • Provide support to other teams in a timely manner. • Support other team members by actively participating and resolving issues. • Provide input into review of test strategies & scenarios documented by testers. • Remain fully aware of the progress of the project from Detailed Technical Spec through to implementation. • Fix or assist in the fix of complex or high severity problems in a timely manner, labelling code correctly and closing Change Requests. • Monitor system performance post implementation and in production. • Build effective relationship with business by maintaining regular contact with business users through the full project life cycle or with regard to production issues. • Build effective relationship with technical team members by making yourself available for enquiries and advice and by ensuring that they are aware of project goals.
