Role Description The Technical Director, Frontend & AI Engineering is a highly technical, hands-on leader responsible for advancing modern frontend architectures and AI-driven user experiences. This role leads the development of high-quality, scalable client experiences while embedding AI capabilities into products and engineering workflows. This leader sets the standard for frontend excellence and AI integration, combining deep expertise in user-facing technologies with practical application of AI/ML to deliver differentiated customer value. Day to day, you'll: - Frontend Architecture & Engineering - Define and evolve frontend architecture, frameworks, and design systems. - Ensure delivery of performant, accessible, and scalable web and mobile experiences. - Standardize patterns across teams for consistency and maintainability. - AI Engineering & Integration - Lead the application of AI/ML (including generative AI) across user experiences and developer tooling. - Partner with Data/ML teams to productionize models and integrate intelligent capabilities. - Guide prompt engineering, model selection, and evaluation strategies. - Hands-On Development Leadership - Contribute to critical frontend and AI-driven feature development. - Review architecture and code to ensure high standards in performance and usability. - Solve complex technical challenges spanning frontend systems and AI integrations. - Experience Innovation - Drive experimentation with AI-powered features, personalization, and automation. - Establish frameworks for rapid prototyping and iterative delivery (aligned with your current experiment-first motion). - Balance innovation with production-grade reliability and scalability. - Standards & Best Practices - Establish best practices for frontend engineering, UI performance, accessibility, and testing. - Define patterns for integrating AI responsibly, securely, and at scale. - Promote consistency across frameworks, component libraries, and design systems. - Mentorship & Capability Building - Develop frontend and AI engineering talent through coaching, pairing, and structured learning. - Raise engineering maturity across teams through standards, reviews, and thought leadership. - Influence hiring strategy for high-impact technical talent. - Cross-Functional Collaboration - Partner closely with Product, Design, Data Science, and Platform teams. - Align frontend and AI capabilities to business priorities and customer outcomes. Qualifications - 10+ years in software engineering, with deep experience in frontend development. - Experience building and scaling modern web applications (React, Angular, etc.). - Proven experience integrating AI/ML capabilities into production systems. Requirements - Expertise in modern frontend frameworks, performance optimization, and UX patterns. - Strong understanding of APIs, backend integration, and full-stack systems. - Experience with AI tooling, LLMs, and model integration (prompting, APIs, inference pipelines). Leadership - Strong technical leadership with the ability to influence across teams. - Experience mentoring engineers and driving engineering best practices. Pay Range The pay range for this position is $154,900.00 - $263,300.00/Yr.
