• Drive backend engineering initiatives using Node.js • Oversee architecture decisions and team development • Collaborate with frontend, DevOps, and business stakeholders • Ensure high standards of code quality and security • Support cloud architecture decisions and deployments

• Lead the design and evolution of our backend architecture (microservices, event-driven systems, AWS serverless, data pipelines) • Drive technical decisions and ensure best practices in code quality, security, and scalability • Mentor and support backend developers, reviewing code and helping them grow as engineers • Design and build robust APIs and data flows powering AI-driven language learning features • Partner with Product and Data Science teams to turn cutting-edge AI models into real-world educational experiences • Anticipate technical risks, propose solutions, and balance speed with long-term scalability

• Design and build backend services for corporate card issuance and management, including roles and user permissions • Integrate with core banking providers, AML systems, and SWIFT to enable reliable, compliant payment flows (SEPA, SWIFT, payout to cards) • Analyze third-party documentation and translate it into concrete integration and architecture plans • Participate in product decisions across the full development lifecycle — from RFC and PRD to production • Improve the performance, scalability, and observability of the system using tools like Kafka, tRPC/Connect RPC, Loki, and VictoriaMetrics • Hold quality to a high standard: write unit and functional tests, follow security best practices, and contribute to automated CI/CD pipelines • Collaborate daily with design, finance, and platform teams to ship a seamless end-to-end user experience

• Architect and Build scalable, high-performance backend services utilizing Java (Quarkus/Spring Boot) and Node.js architectures • Model and Evolve complex distributed domains using Domain Driven Design (DDD), bounded contexts, and event-driven patterns • Design and Implement robust asynchronous workflows and decoupled communications leveraging Kafka, AWS SQS, and AWS SNS • Own End-to-End Reliability by defining SLIs/SLOs, instrumenting observability via Datadog, and leading production incident response and log analysis • Optimize Data Architecture across relational (Aurora RDS), analytical (Google BigQuery), and caching layers (Redis) • Deploy and Operate cloud-native services on AWS/Azure utilizing Kubernetes (EKS) and driving CI/CD and progressive rollouts • Collaborate and Mentor across cross-functional Agile teams (Product, Mobile, QE, Data) to champion engineering excellence and continuous delivery
