Network Project Manager
TelnyxAccess an all-in-one communications platform and API with carrier-grade voice, data and messaging capabilities.
Role Description We're looking for a Network Project Manager to own the end-to-end delivery of new Point-of-Presence (PoP) builds globally. You'll be the conductor — coordinating vendors, data center providers, procurement, smart hands, and our network engineering team to bring new sites from contract to handover. This is a DC-builds-first role with secondary responsibility for network expansion and new service projects. This is an AI-native role — we expect you to leverage AI tools daily and continuously raise the bar on how AI accelerates your work. What You'll Do - Primary — New PoP / DC Builds (70%) - Own the full project lifecycle for new data center builds — from site selection through to network validation and handover. - Coordinate with the Vendor Relations team and participate in negotiations with DC providers (Equinix, Flexential, Digital Realty, etc.) for rack space, power, PDUs, cross-connects, and cage setup. - Work closely with the Procurement team to manage hardware and optics procurement — routers, switches, optics, and cabling — track POs, lead times, and delivery schedules. - Organize and direct smart hands / remote hands for racking, stacking, cabling, and console access setup. - Ensure every new site has out-of-band management and console access ready before engineering validation begins. - Track build timelines, dependencies, and risks — keep stakeholders informed with clear status updates. - Work tightly with Vendor Relations, Procurement, Vendors, and Network Deployment team as your core cross-functional partners. - Secondary — Network Projects (30%) - Manage network expansion projects (new ports, capacity upgrades, additional circuits) — add/replace hardware as needed. - Coordinate new service and feature rollouts with the network engineering team. - Support architecture, improvement, scaling, and integration projects. Qualifications - 3–5 years of project management experience in IT/telecom, with at least 2 years directly managing data center build-outs or colocation deployments. - Hands-on experience working with major colocation providers (Equinix, Flexential, Digital Realty, or similar). - Solid understanding of DC infrastructure: rack layouts, power (A/B feeds, kW allocations), PDUs, cabling standards, and cooling considerations. - Basic networking knowledge (understanding of routers, switches, optics, transit/transport circuits, console access). - Proven ability to coordinate remote/smart hands for physical installations and troubleshoot issues without being on-site. - Experience managing hardware procurement cycles — POs, lead times, RMA processes. - Strong communication skills — you can write clear status reports, run effective meetings, and keep multiple teams aligned without hand-holding. - AI-first mindset (required) — demonstrated experience building workflows, automations, or tools with AI. Requirements - Knowledge of network console/access infrastructure (serial console servers, OpenGear, etc.). - Experience with project management tools (Jira, Asana, Monday, Linear, or similar). - Familiarity with network validation and turn-up processes. - PMP, PRINCE2, or similar certification (not required, but a plus). What Success Looks Like - New PoP builds delivered on schedule with zero surprises on go-live day. - Smart hands show up prepared, with the right gear, because you provided clear instructions. - Network engineers get a site that's racked, cabled, and console-ready — they validate, not troubleshoot basics. - Procurement and Vendor Relations teams see you as a partner, not a bottleneck. - Your project documentation is clear enough that anyone can pick up where you left off.
