Assistant Controller

Quorum is looking to hire an Assistant Controller to join our Finance department. The Assistant Controller’s responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to, overseeing core accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, tax compliance, FP&A, covenant analysis, and supporting the Senior Director, Finance, in all aspects of the finance function. The Assistant Controller will be guided by solid business instincts, strong ethics, and sound judgment developed through progressive accounting experience. This individual will quickly establish and maintain cooperative working relationships across departments and at all levels of the organization, bringing strong technical accounting expertise and a proactive approach to problem-solving. The Assistant Controller will confidently manage competing priorities, drive process improvements, and support the development of junior finance team members. Here is what we will expect from you at work: • Oversee and manage month end, quarter end, and year end close procedures, ensuring all accounting entries are posted accurately and working papers are prepared for all General Ledger accounts. • Develop, prepare, and maintain continuity schedules and reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts. • Lead preparation of monthly variance analysis and budget-to-actual reports, with commentary for senior leadership. • Prepare and review monthly financial reporting packs, ensuring accuracy and timeliness for internal and external stakeholders. • Prepare and review monthly and quarterly covenant reporting packs, ensuring compliance with all debt covenants and lender requirements. • Oversee the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements and reports in accordance with IFRS. • Review, coach, and mentor junior and intermediate finance team members; provide technical guidance and support their professional development. • Own compliance for Sales Taxes, Corporate Taxes, and Deferred Taxes, including all reporting, filing, and liaison with external tax advisors. • Serve as the primary point of contact for the annual external audit and annual corporate tax filing; coordinate with auditors and advisors to ensure a smooth and efficient process. • Partner with the Senior Director of Finance on strategic initiatives, ad-hoc analysis, and process improvement projects.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA designation required (or near completion).
- 4-6 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory accounting role.
- Experience with IFRS is required; public company or SaaS industry experience is a strong asset.
- A Proven ability to manage and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment.
- Demonstrated experience consolidating and interpreting financial data from multiple systems and sources.
- Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel expertise required); experience with ERP systems is an asset.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written Additional Requirements
