Summer Internship, Sweetened Beverage Tax
Center for Science in the Public Interest - CSPI
• Conducting data collection and analysis for a policy scan of current sweetened beverage tax policies in the United States. • Drafting advocacy resources resulting from this policy scan, including assisting with the development of a model policy. • Contributing to broader work on sweetened beverage tax advocacy campaigns and corporate accountability.
Job Requirements
- Interest in sweetened beverage taxes as a public health measure.
- Currently enrolled in a public health or nutrition graduate degree program (master’s or doctoral).
- Excellent research and writing skills with ability to read, analyze, interpret, and summarize public health and nutrition research.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage tasks appropriately to achieve project goals.
- Interest in health equity.
- Leadership, organizing, or community engagement experience is a plus.
Benefits
- CSPI pays interns $17.95 per hour at the start of the internship.
- Intern pay will increase to $18.40 per hour effective 7/1/2026.
- Two paid holidays (Juneteenth and Independence Day).
- ½ day Fridays.

This role will report to the Senior Manager, Global Tax Accounting and Reporting, and will assist with various areas of income tax including compliance, research & planning, and tax accounting. Location : US Remote RESPONSIBILITIES: In this role the primary responsibilities may include (but are not limited to): Supporting the Company’s global income tax compliance including: The preparation of federal, state, and international tax returns. Calculate and file quarterly income tax estimates, and year-end extensions, ensuring payments are made by due dates. Collaborate closely with cross functional teams including finance, accounting, and treasury to gather data needed to support income tax calculations. Provide tax technical support to properly calculate the impact of U.S. international tax concepts, including GILTI, FDII, 163(j) and BEAT. Prepare Form 1118, income sourcing and foreign tax credit calculations. Prepare Forms 5471, 5472 and relevant statements and disclosures. Assist in coordination with local teams regarding statutory financials and local income tax returns of foreign subsidiaries worldwide. Support ongoing tax planning projects, including tax research, and modeling/forecasting tax impacts. Assist in responding to inquiries from tax authorities in connection to notices and examinations. Keep abreast of tax law changes and perform technical research and analysis and apply tax laws to support tax positions related to the Company’s business transactions. Assist with the preparation of the quarterly and annual global income tax provision in accordance with ASC 740, including analyzing tax reserves, deferred tax assets and liabilities, global income taxes payable and required footnotes and disclosures.
