Role Description The role involves supporting Hospital Based Inpatient Coding or Hospital Outpatient Surgical Coding. - Monday - Friday, First shift, 40 hours a week. - Remote opportunity available in specified states. - Pay Range: $33.05 - $49.60 Major Responsibilities include: - Reviewing coded health information records for quality and accuracy. - Collaborating with coding leadership on focused diagnosis and procedure codes. - Identifying coder education opportunities and trends. - Reviewing encounters flagged for second level review. - Participating in Clinical Documentation Improvement and Hospital Coding alignment process. - Engaging in hospital coding denial and appeal processes. - Investigating and resolving inquiries from billing office or patient accounts. - Maintaining continuing education credits and credentials. Qualifications - Coding Specialist (CCS), Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification required. - Associate's Degree in Health Information Management or related field. - Typically requires 5 years of experience in hospital coding. Requirements - Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities. - Knowledge of NCCI edits and local/national coverage decisions. - Expert knowledge in ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT coding systems. - Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Applications. - Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and pharmacology. - Excellent communication and reading comprehension skills. - Demonstrated analytical aptitude with attention to detail. - Experience with remote work force operations. - Strong sense of ethics.
