Billing Verification Analyst

• Review and analyse energy billing data to verify accuracy, identify discrepancies, and support correct billing outcomes for clients. • Investigate automated bill verification failures and determine whether issues relate to retailer billing errors, system configuration, data quality, or other contributing factors. • Analyse large data sets using Excel and internal systems to identify patterns, exceptions, errors, and opportunities for savings or corrections. • Review invoices, tariffs, rates, meter data, account information, and related billing details to confirm accuracy against expected arrangements. • Raise billing disputes with energy retailers and follow up through to resolution, including tracking credits, adjustments, and outcomes. • Maintain accurate case notes, ticket updates, supporting evidence, and resolution records within internal systems such as A2. • Liaise with internal teams, retailers, providers, and relevant stakeholders to obtain information, clarify issues, and support timely dispute resolution. • Track verified savings, billing corrections, credits, and financial outcomes resulting from investigation and dispute activity. • Escalate complex billing, data, or system issues to the appropriate internal teams where further investigation or technical support is required. • Identify recurring billing issues, system configuration problems, data gaps, and workflow inefficiencies to support process improvement. • Contribute to accurate reporting, internal updates, and operational visibility across verification activity and issue resolution. • Handle client, retailer, and billing information with confidentiality, professionalism, and strong attention to detail. • Work collaboratively with the SmartValidation, SmartSupport, and broader Eutility teams to support accurate, timely, and reliable bill verification outcomes. • Other position-level duties as they arise.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or tertiary qualification in Engineering, Science, Environmental Studies, Data Analytics, Business, Finance, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Minimum 2-5+ years’ experience in billing analysis, bill verification, data analysis, utilities, energy, metering services, finance operations, or a similar analytical support role.
- Experience working with invoices, billing data, account information, tariffs, rates, meter data, or utility-related information is highly regarded.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to investigate discrepancies, identify root causes, and interpret billing or data issues accurately.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to work with large data sets, formulas, filters, reconciliations, and exception reporting.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to review information carefully while maintaining accuracy across repetitive and high-volume tasks.
- Ability to identify retailer billing errors, system configuration issues, data quality concerns, and process-related problems.
- Experience raising, tracking, and resolving disputes, queries, adjustments, credits, or billing corrections with external providers or internal teams.
- Good problem-solving skills with the ability to gather evidence, document findings, and recommend practical next steps.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple cases, deadlines, and follow-up actions.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise professionally with internal stakeholders, customers, retailers, and service providers.
- Experience using ticketing, CRM, workflow, or case management systems such as A2 or similar platforms is advantageous.
- Ability to follow established processes while identifying opportunities to improve accuracy, efficiency, and reporting quality.
