The Associate Finance Director is responsible for various financial including financial forecasting and budgeting, financial reporting, business planning, developing business analytics and metrics reporting, combined with ad-hoc analysis. This person will also be an advisor, evaluating and assisting with financial plans and analysis of financial and operational metrics to evaluate and influence. This position follows a hybrid schedule with four in-office days per week. You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week. Primary Responsibilities: - Lead financial management and develop metrics, benchmarks and analytics to guide the appropriate investments - Partner with Product and Operations leaders to understand and articulate performance of the business - Proactively seek opportunities to improve processes and identify areas of improvement - Work closely with the Product and Operations teams to recommend and establish strategies, plans, and processes to improve profitability and cost efficiency - Act as subject matter expert on the supported segment & apply in-depth knowledge of the business for recommendations to management - Perform reports for month-end close and quarterly forecasting on behalf of the supported segment - Complete standard variance analysis and research variance drivers and explain cause-effect relationships - Analyze trends and enhance reporting and insights through a closer partnership with partners during forecast cycles You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in. Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field - 5+ years of progressive financial planning and analysis experience - 5+ years of managing financial reporting and analysis - Experience prioritizing & managing demanding workloads with concurrent deadlines - Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency (Pivot tables, VLookups, Macros) - Complete standard variance analysis and research variance drivers and explain cause-effect relationships - Solid knowledge of GAAP, fundamental financial concepts and procedures - Proven "Business person" mentality coupled with exceptional financial acumen - Proven ability to partner with the business yet be able to deliver uncomfortable messages around operating and financial performance as need be - Proven ability to identify financial and operating issues and partner with the business to find solutions to those issues - Proven effective communicator at all levels in the organization, with solid oral and written skills and a willingness to share information - Proven collaborative and flexible style, with a solid service mentality Preferred Qualifications: - Proven ability to influence multiple stakeholders at executive levels - Demonstrate executive presence with solid communication skills *All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter Policy.
