• Support the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Integrated Veteran Care (IVC) Veteran Family Member Programs (VFMP) Modernization Portfolio • Design, develop, test, implement, and maintain automation tools, software applications, system integrations, and workflow solutions • Develop web-based applications, client-server applications, scripts, and automation workflows • Support Robotic Process Automation (RPA) initiatives • Develop and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, scripts, and database integrations • Create test cases, test scenarios, and test documentation • Support operational readiness and post-implementation stabilization activities

• Solve advanced CUDA and GPU programming problems involving parallel computing and performance optimization • Review, evaluate, and improve AI-generated CUDA, C++, and Python code • Optimize GPU kernels for throughput, latency, memory efficiency, and resource utilization • Work with CUDA libraries and frameworks such as Thrust, cuBLAS, and cuDNN • Debug and resolve issues related to CUDA kernels, synchronization, and memory management • Develop high-quality technical prompts, solutions, explanations, and evaluations for AI model training • Collaborate with AI researchers, engineers, and evaluation teams • Stay up to date with the latest developments in CUDA, GPU architectures, and performance optimization techniques

• Design, build, train, evaluate and improve advanced machine learning and LLM-based systems for patient and provider-facing products (e.g., conversational AI, personalization, user understanding, clinical decision support, chronic care management). • Own problems end-to-end: scope the problem with clinicians and product partners, build datasets and evaluations, iterate on modeling, and ship to production with the right monitoring and guardrails. • Develop robust evaluation frameworks — offline benchmarks, human-in-the-loop review, online experiments — that give us confidence our models are safe, accurate, and improving over time. • Build and improve the platform that lets the team move quickly: data pipelines, training and inference infrastructure, prompt and model management, and tooling for clinical reviewers. • Partner closely with clinicians, product, and engineering to translate medical and operational requirements into ML problems and ship measurable improvements to patient and clinician experience. • Set technical direction for your area, mentor other engineers, and raise the bar on engineering and scientific rigor. Qualifications - You are well-versed in two or more languages (Java, Quarkus, Kafka) and are comfortable with the latest Object-Oriented technology. - You have led software development teams using Agile, Lean and/or Continuous methodologies. - Knowledge of delivery approaches such as TDD, continuous integration, pairing and infrastructure automation. - Bonus points if you have knowledge of cloud technology such as AWS, Docker or Kubernetes. - You enjoy continuously learning and improving, whether it is through functional programming paradigms, event driven architecture, platform engineering or others. - Advanced English at C1 level. - Advanced Spanish.
