Role Description We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative and passionate chef to produce standard dishes and enhance the overall dining experience according to Wilderness Safaris standards. - Prepare, cook and present dishes according to minimum standards. - Ensure that meals are ready on time and served at the correct temperature. - Ensure that all food preparation areas and equipment are clean and hygienic before and after use. - Cleaning of all storerooms, ovens and other cooking equipment. - Ensure that only recipes provided are used and no other. - Prepare snacks, cakes and biscuits for the coffee table and for the guides for game drives, ensuring they are ready in time and meet minimum standards. - Reporting on maintenance problems, breakages, fire and health hazards, security risks, accidents, lost and found, shortages and unusual events. - Carry out any other duties as assigned by the supervisor/manager. Qualifications - Three (3) years' experience as a chef. - Certificate in Culinary or level 2 will be an added advantage. - Understanding of simple instructions in English or Afrikaans. - Good interpersonal skills, able to relate well to peers and superiors. - Must be able to read a recipe. - Cooking skills and methods. - Correct preparation of food. - Alternative cooking for vegetarian and other special needs. - Team player.
