Test Engineering - Hardware

HARMAN International

Role Description This position is within HARMAN’s automotive business and is responsible for all day-to-day HW validation infrastructure activities for globally developed audio products. This position is responsible for developing test strategies and interface tools for Harman Audio products, including AHU, Amplifiers, Loudspeakers, and Microphones. The position will work closely with the Validation & Certification Global teams and Engineering to ensure test and interface tools that fully validate our products. The position has no direct reports. What You Will Do - Develop and release algorithms for testing Amplifiers, Audio Head Units & Displays. - Develop and release automated solutions to improve the efficiency of the global test organization. - Support and mentor team members in using automated tools and in developing new measurements for automated testers. - Develop hardware test strategies and plans in accordance with business and product requirements. - Develop innovative ways to expose and test automotive audio components. - Give guidance and direction to junior engineers within the group. - Create automated test scripts using common scripting languages. - Identify and implement cost-effective testing solutions. - Record, process, and analyze data with PC based tools and test instrumentation. - Provide technical support for the resolution of various customer and interdepartmental issues on an as-needed basis. - Perform setup of modules/wiring and maintain test benches and test vehicles appropriately. - Design, document and facilitate the assembly of test racks utilizing commercial off-the-shelf equipment and internally designed components, where needed. - Seek simple, cost-effective global solutions. - Plan project development for the team. Drive execution according to the plans. Qualifications - Bachelor of Science in Electrical / Mechatronic Engineering. - 3-7 years of experience in a hardware test strategy development role, preferably in automotive infotainment or consumer electronics. - A thorough understanding of electronic knowledge. - Electrical diagrams. - Electronic design. - Demonstrable knowledge of Software development for measurement devices, such as: - LabVIEW / LabWindows CVI - Test Stand / Veristand - C++ / ANSI C - Python - Demonstrable experience with programmable devices (DAQ, Multimeter, Power Supply, Waveform generator, Multiplexor). - A thorough understanding of creating HW validation test sequences. - Demonstrable experience with Audio analysis and RF knowledge (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 5G, AM/FM/IBOC/DAB/SDARS). - Demonstrable knowledge of Vehicle Network protocols (CAN, MOST, 100/100BaseT1, A2B). - Proficiency in verbal and written communication skills. - Proficiency in Configuration Management Tools, Office productivity SW, Bug tracking tools. - Relentless learner with a dedication to learning new technologies and test methods. - Creative problem-solver capable of creating and reproducing software bugs. - Dedicated performer with the ability to advocate appropriately for product quality. - Demonstrated experience functioning in a highly collaborative, demanding, and fast-paced environment. - Capable of project management and time management skills.
