Senior Consultant, Data Science and Analytics

TransUnion

• You will drive the ongoing development and enhancement of TransUnion’s in-house Insurance Analytics platform (InsureR), applying advanced expertise in machine learning, mathematical programming, and software development to deliver scalable, high-quality solutions. • You will enhance the usability and effectiveness of analytic tools by contributing to UI/UX improvements that enable better user experiences and adoption. • You will provide hands-on regional support, partnering with teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues within local analytic environments, ensuring continuity and performance. • You will play a key role in supporting global Data Science and Analytics (DSA) and Insurance Analytics teams, strengthening critical capabilities that power enterprise-wide analytics solutions. • Lead the development of analytic solutions using languages such as C++, R, Python, SQL, Hive and Spark, formalizing some of these efforts into repeatable process improvements. • Assist Global Technology with maintenance of the tools and frameworks used by analysts on the high-performance computing (HPC) cluster and be a lead representative of the Data Science Development team in projects led by Global Technology as a subject matter expert on machine learning and scientific computing. • Own data science consulting responsibilities for a variety of regions, working to identify strategies and opportunities to test and adopt TransUnion’s analytic products and services. • Contribute to research and innovation initiatives in collaboration with other DSA peers and may lead small analytic research teams or manage research interns on a project basis, as needed. • You will participate in the mentoring and training of junior colleagues, fostering a high-performance culture and cultivating an environment that promotes excellence and reflects the TransUnion brand.

Job Requirements

  • Master’s degree in statistics, economics, applied mathematics, financial mathematics, computer science, engineering, operations research, or other highly quantitative field with at least 3 years of experience; or a Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field with at least five (5) years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experienced data scientist with extensive mathematical programming and theoretical foundation and advanced software development skills to support development of state-of-the-art homegrown analytic platforms.
  • Advanced C++ programming skills, preferably in scientific computing applications.
  • Experience designing and implementing advanced numerical algorithms.
  • Experience with integrating popular machine learning frameworks (such as XGBoost, LightGBM, H2O).
  • Proficiency with statistical languages such as R or machine learning packages for Python; experience with other programming languages (Scala, Java) and HPC environments (Slurm, Univa, SGE, Torque).
  • Advanced SQL programming skills and experience with big data platforms (Hadoop, Spark, Hive); knowledge of Apache Arrow is a plus.
  • Experience engineering connections between big data frameworks and front end applications (Shiny, Streamlit, Dash, Tableau).
  • Evidence of strong analytical, critical, and creative thinking and willingness to take initiative in problem-solving.
  • Demonstrated interest and proven career path in industries served by TransUnion, such as financial services, insurance, fraud, and digital marketing.
  • Strong project and time management skills to lead multiple complex projects simultaneously with limited supervision in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. This may require the management of multiple resources within a project and the effective coordination of tasks across resources using clear workflows.
  • Excellent business acumen and versatile interpersonal skills to communicate effectively at multiple levels within a complex and dynamic matrix organization.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in both Spanish and English.
  • Proven ability to translate technical concepts into articulate actionable recommendations in a manner that is suitable to influence business partners and decision-makers inside and outside towards desired outcomes.
  • Ability to travel 10-20% of the time.

Role Description Reporting to the Associate Director, Analytical Sciences, the Senior Scientist, Analytical Sciences, has responsibility for the analytical aspects of drug product development and manufacturing activities across the relevant Nuvalent CRO and CDMOs. The candidate will interface with the program’s Quality Control, Drug Product, Quality Assurance, CMC Project Manager and Regulatory CMC functional representatives. Responsibilities include ensuring that drug product analytical support is timely, high quality, and consistent with the Phase-Appropriate strategy outlined by the project team and CMC Team. The candidate will support analytical activities for a clinical small molecule oncology program. This role would entail internal and external facing responsibilities as a member of the analytical sciences group on the cross-functional CMC team and through analytical leadership of key external CRO/CDMO relationships. The successful candidate needs to demonstrate a proven track record of working with CROs/CDMOs to support drug product development through the delivery of high-quality analytical methods, process support, and stability studies. The ability to thrive in a virtual environment in support of developing and delivering drug product for fast-paced clinical development programs will be critical. In addition, using strong technical analytical experience and effective knowledge of industry regulatory guidance, the candidate will support phase appropriate drug product development efforts, dissolution development, contribute to the analytical strategy and assist in the authoring and reviewing technical regulatory submission documents.
