About the role Ampol are recruiting for a Financial Controller on a permanent, full-time basis. This role is located in our Alexandria office with a hybrid working arrangement. The Financial Controller leads the Accounting and Reporting function within the Energy Solutions Finance team. With a strong focus on financial governance, audit, reporting, and operational accounting, this role is responsible for the delivery of accurate and timely actual, forecast, and budget reporting. This includes ownership of monthly management reporting, as well as half year and full year statutory financial reporting. Key responsibilities - Lead Energy Solutions finance and reporting activities to ensure compliance with ASX and corporate law reporting requirements, in partnership with Group Finance. - Manage the timely and accurate delivery of monthly actual and forecast management reporting, including profit and loss, cash flow, balance sheet, and working capital, through an efficient end to end process from ledger close to high quality management commentary for the ALT and the Board. - Own the Energy Solutions general ledger, including the financial recording and reporting structure, in collaboration with Group Finance. - Drive continuous improvement in financial reporting processes and outputs to meet the evolving needs of the business. - Develop clear insights and interpretation of financial trends and key value drivers to support improved financial performance. Qualifications & Experience - CA or CPA qualified, with 8+ years post qualification experience in accounting or financial reporting roles. - Demonstrated experience leading financial reporting functions, ideally within an ASX or NZX listed organisation. - Advanced ability to apply technical accounting expertise in a practical, commercial, and value focused manner. - Strong understanding of complex accounting treatments and their business implications, with proven problem-solving capability. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience preparing high quality input for Board and Audit Committee reporting. - Demonstrated people leadership capability, including experience leading and developing direct reports to deliver high quality outcomes. Role Description The Controller will be the senior accounting leader, responsible for the integrity of our financial records, the rhythm of our close, and the financial controls that allow us to operate with confidence. You will work directly with the CEO and our outside fractional CFO to give the leadership team and our investors clean, accurate, decision-ready financials. This is a hands-on role. You will roll up your sleeves in QuickBooks, own the month-end close, and partner closely with FP&A. Within 6-12 months, you will hire a direct report (Senior Accountant or Staff Accountant), and as the company grows, you will continue to build the accounting team underneath you. Reporting Line & Location - Reports to: CEO / Founder, with a dotted line to the fractional CFO - Location: Fully remote. Candidates must reside in Colorado, North Carolina, or Texas. - Travel: Light. Occasional travel for team off-sites and events.
