Role Description We are seeking a technically-minded accounting professional to lead revenue accounting and technical accounting matters within our growing fintech organization. This is a specialized role focused on revenue recognition under ASC 606, complex technical accounting research and memo drafting, equity and stock-based compensation accounting, and financial reporting in compliance with U.S. GAAP. The role partners closely with FP&A, Legal, Product, and external auditors to ensure accurate accounting for new products, contracts, and strategic initiatives as the company scales. This is not a generalist staff accountant role. The ideal candidate brings public accounting experience, hands-on revenue recognition expertise, and the ability to independently research and document complex technical accounting positions. This role will report to the Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting Manager. Key Responsibilities - Technical & Revenue Accounting - Lead revenue accounting under ASC 606, including contract review, performance obligation analysis, and revenue recognition decisions for new and existing product offerings. - Assist with research, draft, and maintain technical accounting memos covering revenue recognition, leases (ASC 842), stock-based compensation (ASC 718), debt, and other complex topics. - Assist with implementation of new accounting standards and pronouncements, including impact assessments and policy updates. - Assist with equity and stock-based compensation accounting, including coordination with Carta for cap table data, expense calculations, and disclosures. - Financial Reporting - Assist in preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP. - Assist with financial reporting workflows and documentation within Workiva, including footnote disclosures and supporting workpapers. - Partner with external auditors on technical accounting matters, revenue testing, and audit deliverables. - Systems, Data & Cross-Functional Partnership - Utilize SQL and data analysis tools to query large transactional datasets in support of revenue accounting, contract analytics, and financial reporting. - Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, Product, Legal, and Operations to evaluate the accounting impact of new product launches, pricing changes, and contract structures. - Support procurement and expense accounting workflows through Coupa where they intersect with technical accounting matters. - Drive automation and process improvements across revenue accounting, technical accounting documentation, and financial reporting workflows. - Assist with maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger and related financial reporting processes. - Partner with the GL team to ensure timely and accurate completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual close procedures. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in accounting required. - CPA strongly preferred, or active CPA candidate with completion expected within 12 months. - 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, with public accounting experience (Big 4 or large regional firm) strongly preferred. - Demonstrated hands-on experience applying ASC 606 (revenue recognition) in a technology, fintech, or SaaS environment. - Experience drafting technical accounting memos and conducting independent accounting research. - Working knowledge of ASC 842 (leases) and ASC 718 (stock-based compensation). - Proficiency with SQL for querying transactional data. - Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, complex lookups, large-dataset modeling).
