Title: Director of Capture Job Requisition PMCM2026.02 Location: All US Locations/Remote Job Description: Director of Capture Director of Capture is responsible for increasing the quality and volume of qualified opportunities and clients through disciplined relationship-building, clear communication of Grant Engine’s value, and rigorous pursuit of funding demand across both science & technology funding support and capture traction inside key federal agencies. Given our focus in defense/dual-use, life sciences, and adjacent deep-tech markets, relevant domain experience is essential to succeed in this role. You will establish, own, and continuously foster strategic relationships inside the Department of War and other research-based centers of excellence to help position our exceptional clients to secure federal interest and commitments. This role is ideal for a self-starter who is passionate about emerging technology and defense solutions and is looking for a role where they can autonomously operate and grow a team. The key for Grant Engine is to have someone on our team that can effectively pursue deeper and wider relationships within the US military and federal branches of government to support the business development efforts of our clients and of Grant Engine at large. Status Full Time Location US Based, remote work with selected travel Reporting & Structure This role reports directly to Grant Engine’s Executive Director and the company’s CEO. While this role is senior role with ability to set company processes and influence company culture, the role is currently not a management role; instead, it is a autonomous operator-type role. It is projected that this role will evolve to a management role with a team developed underneath the Director of Capture. Deliverables: Portfolio Management & Revenue Growth - Own revenue outcomes for a portfolio of clients by driving new pathways for federal integration - Build and execute capture plans that convert into funded awards and follow-on work, positioning client technologies for adoption and transition across DoD buyers and budget owners. - Identify, qualify, and prioritize high-probability opportunities by analyzing DoD requirements, timelines, stakeholders, and acquisition pathways to maximize win-rate and contract value. Capture Execution & Pipeline Generation - Drive pipeline creation through targeted outreach to mission owners, end-users, program offices, primes, integrators, and OTA consortia to generate meetings, advocacy, and concrete next steps. - Run revenue-focused client strategy reviews to align on opportunity priorities, close decisions quickly, remove blockers, and maintain momentum from interest to submission to award. - Influence decision-makers through high-impact briefings and presentations that clearly articulate value, differentiation, and mission fit to accelerate adoption and funding. High-Impact Support & Internal Knowledge Development - Support Delivery team with developing deal-enabling collateral (one-pagers, capability statements, white papers, slide decks, transition narratives) that increases conversion and shortens sales and capture cycles. - Execute additional revenue-critical initiatives as assigned to support growth, win-rate, and client lifetime value. - Support and advise our consulting team in formulating proposals narratives that address real defense pain points and challenges - Provide new intel and awareness about DoD operations that can help our consulting team better align their proposals with defense priorities and interests - Represent the business at conferences and industry events to source leads and partnerships, expanding network reach and generating qualified pipeline for clients and Grant Engine. - Forecast, report, and escalate pipeline risks and deal blockers with clear mitigation plans to protect revenue targets and delivery timelines. Held is hiring a Senior Technical Director to join its Environmental & Risk Advisory Service Line, focusing on waste management, remediation, corrective action, and environmental liability advisory services, including remediation strategy, regulatory negotiation, and cost‑to‑closure evaluation. This role supports industrial, insurance, legal, and transactional clients addressing complex soil, groundwater, sediment, and waste‑related challenges under federal and state regulatory frameworks. In addition to remediation and corrective action work, the role may involve transaction‑driven environmental due diligence, redevelopment and brownfield support, long‑term remediation program management, and advisory support related to environmental claims and remediation cost evaluation. This is a senior seller‑doer role requiring the ability to independently originate, develop, and sustain client relationships while also serving as a technical and project leader. The successful candidate is expected to bring an established network of client relationships and demonstrate a consistent ability to convert those relationships into awarded work. Business Development and Client Ownership - Independently originate, pursue, and secure remediation, environmental liability, and waste management engagements without reliance on internally sourced work. - Serve as primary client owner with accountability for repeat work, client expansion, and long-term relationships. - Develop opportunities across insurance, industrial, energy, manufacturing, and transactional advisory clients, including work related to remediation, liability evaluation, redevelopment, and long‑term environmental programs. Project and Program Leadership - Lead large, complex waste and remediation programs, including multi‑site portfolios, corrective action sites, redevelopment‑driven remediation, CCR facilities, landfills, and long‑term programmatic engagements. - Manage projects originated directly by the Senior Technical Director from pursuit through execution and closure. - Maintain responsibility for scope control, budgeting, scheduling, and profitability. Technical Leadership - Provide senior technical leadership on remediation strategy, corrective action, regulatory negotiation, and closure planning. - Lead development of conceptual site models, remedial alternatives analyses, cost-to-closure estimates, and liability frameworks. - Collaborate with hydrogeology, geochemistry, risk, and transactional advisory teams. Regulatory and Stakeholder Engagement - Interface directly with regulators (EPA, state agencies, and others) on remedial strategy, permitting, and closure. - Support clients in enforcement, consent orders, corrective action, and redevelopment negotiations. Advisory Services - Supports clients on the technical aspects of environmental due diligence and transaction advisory, including environmental liability assessment, remediation risk evaluation, and pre- and post-acquisition planning. - Provide remediation and regulatory strategy in support of redevelopment and brownfield projects, including coordination with development schedules and closure milestones. - Provide advisory support related to environmental claims, including review and validation of remediation costs and technical support to insurance and legal stakeholders. Team Leadership - Mentor and develop technical staff while building a sustainable pipeline of work to support utilization and growth. Qualifications Required - Bachelor’s degree or higher in Geology, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field; advanced degrees and professional licensure (PG, PE) preferred. - 10 – 15+ years of consulting experience in waste management, remediation, corrective action, or environmental liability advisory. - Demonstrated experience with regulatory frameworks such as RCRA, CERCLA, CCR Rule, state corrective action programs, and risk-based closure. - Proven track record of originating consulting work and sustaining long-term client relationships in an external consulting environment. - Demonstrated ability to articulate an active pipeline of client opportunities within waste, remediation, and environmental liability services. - Experience serving as primary client contact with responsibility for pursuit strategy, pricing, and repeat work. - Ability to manage complex technical projects while maintaining profitability and schedule discipline. - Strong technical writing, QA/QC, and presentation skills. - Demonstrated business judgment related to opportunity selection, client development, and service-line growth. - Ability to travel as needed Preferred - Experience supporting transaction advisory, insurance, or redevelopment engagements where remediation strategy, cost uncertainty, and regulatory outcomes materially affect client decisions.
