Senior Construction Defect Claims Manager

• Manages and is responsible for a Construction Defect claims team of adjusters and inventory consisting of a varying degree of complexity in the claims inventory and includes litigation depending on the CD team assignment. • Implements policy, and procedures, and provides oversight of the assigned team CD team at the direction of the CD Director of Casualty Claims to optimize claims resources, outcomes and expenses. • Provides support, guidance, leadership, motivation, developmental resources and appropriate coaching to promote maximum performance and development of assigned adjusters. • Identifies and advises management of trends, and opportunities to achieve better outcomes as well as recommends a course of action. • Suggests new procedures and ideas for continuous process improvement and assists in developing training for claims adjusters and implements established procedures including the proper escalation of claims. • Provides performance management activities for direct reports measured against business objectives and claims activity. • Provides subject matter expertise on technical claims assigned to the CD team. • Analyzes data properly including litigation metrics, manages loss and expense reserves, provides insight and analysis on trends in development, develops and provides reports as requested by the CD Claims Director. • Authorizes Reserves and Settlements within established authority and properly escalates claims above reserve and settlement authority. • Reviews all new losses and gives directions to claims staff daily to ensure timely and appropriate claim handling and management of reserves. • Administers company personnel policies in all areas: assists the CD Director with hiring and interviews, and implements performance objectives, and conducts performance discussions. • Participates in claim file audits or reviews to identify opportunities for improvement. • Maintains diaries and reviews claims to confirm appropriate claim handling, coverage, reserving, documentation and communication in order to provide excellent customer service, avoid complaints, and obtain optimal outcomes. • Follows litigation management protocols. • Participates in projects as requested.
Job Requirements
- Must hold Proper adjuster licenses in Florida and other states with the ability to obtain additional licenses as needed.
- High school education or equivalent.
- College Degree preferred.
- 10 years of general liability claims adjusting experience.
- 5 years of supervisory experience.
