Senior Manager - Bookkeeper

Role Description We're hiring a Senior Manager to help us keep our financial work top-notch in our construction-focused bookkeeping firm. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on experience in construction accounting, including industry-specific nuances like: - Job costing - Work in progress (WIP) - Accounts payable - Progress billing In this role, you'll: - Review bookkeeping work, catch and resolve discrepancies, and guide our team on best practices specific to construction clients. - Lead and participate in client meetings, serving as a key point of contact for ongoing client communication. - Help ensure our clients feel confident, informed, and supported. - Play a critical leadership role internally—mentoring and managing a blended shore team. - Create and maintain SOPs, develop training materials, and support quality control standards across the team. Think of this role as part coach, part problem-solver, and part detail-checker. It's perfect for someone who's precise, proactive, comfortable leading both clients and team members, and who enjoys helping others grow while still rolling up their sleeves and doing the work themselves. *To best support collaboration and team coverage, candidates must reside in either the Pacific or Mountain time zones. Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field (preferred) - Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with a strong focus on construction accounting - Proven experience managing multiple client accounts simultaneously in a fast-paced environment - Strong understanding of construction-specific accounting concepts, including job costing, WIP, cash flow management, and project timelines - QuickBooks Online Certification required (Advanced Certification preferred) - Strong knowledge of cash and accrual accounting methods Requirements - Exceptional client relationship management and communication skills, with the ability to translate financial data into clear, actionable insights - Proven leadership experience managing and developing a team, including setting expectations, providing feedback, and supporting growth - Demonstrated ability to build long-term client partnerships through trust, clarity, and proactive guidance - Excellent problem-solving skills and a high level of attention to detail Benefits - Starting pay: $30-40/hour, depending on experience (with a review after 90 days) - 401k with company match - Sick pay + paid holidays (including your birthday) - 1 week vacation after 90 days (accrued weekly) and 2 weeks accrued Vacation Time after 2 years of employment - Weekly equipment stipend - 100% remote - Weekly paychecks - Paid training and education time (up to 4 hours/month) - Quarterly performance-based bonuses after you've been with the team for 6 months Company Description Moose Creek Bookkeeping is a construction-focused bookkeeping and advisory firm serving contractors and trade businesses across the country. • You independently manage client bookkeeping using the BMD NTCS software — largely paperless and automated. • Ideally you also support us with ongoing payroll processing. • You welcome new clients and assist with administrative tasks (e.g., preparing fee invoices) as well as supporting our marketing activities, such as creating advisory videos, expanding our tax chatbot (tax-gpt) and producing social media posts.
