Job Description
Frontend Tech Lead
Roamless
Role Description As our Frontend Tech Lead, you'll own both the technical direction and the people on that team. This is a player-coach role. Roughly 70% of your time will be spent on hands-on work: writing and shipping code, reviewing pull requests, and making architectural decisions alongside your team. The remaining 30% is people leadership: 1:1s, performance conversations, unblocking engineers, and building the team habits that make the whole greater than the sum of its parts. The scope of what you'll work on is genuinely broad: - Our website, a high-traffic, conversion-critical surface where you'll help define how things are built and how content is structured and accelerated through our CMS. - Our B2B enterprise portal, a brand new product for a brand new business line, currently in its earliest stages. You'll work closely with our PM responsible for our web experience from day one, shaping the roadmap rather than receiving it, where your instincts about what to build next are as valued as your ability to build it. Qualifications - 8+ years of frontend development experience with deep expertise in React and Next.js. - Strong Node.js skills: comfortable operating across the full frontend/backend boundary. - A genuine belief in AI-assisted engineering; you already use AI tools in your own workflow. - Proven experience leading or tech-leading a frontend team. - Experience managing or mentoring engineers directly. - Startup mindset: make good decisions with incomplete information, move fast, and own outcomes end-to-end. - Strong cross-functional communicator: comfortable shaping requirements with Product and explaining tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders. Requirements - Lead the team's CMS migration, owning both technical execution and the long-term content infrastructure design. - Be the technical bridge between Product and Engineering. - Review pull requests with feedback that raises the bar, and mentor engineers on both craft and broader engineering thinking. - Own the people management of the frontend team: regular 1:1s, performance reviews, development plans, and honest conversations about growth and performance. - Break down silos, build rituals and practices that encourage knowledge sharing and collective ownership within the team. - Partner with the CTO on team structure, hiring priorities, and capacity planning as Roamless scales. Benefits - Stock options: All employees are eligible for stock options, subject to tenure and performance. - Hardware you need to be most productive. - Fully remote: The trust and flexibility that come with a fully-remote setup. - Supportive, diverse, inclusive team.

Role Description At Roamless, front-end isn't an afterthought, it's how more than a million travelers experience our product every day. The scope of what you'll work on is genuinely broad: - Website: A high-traffic, conversion-critical surface where you'll help define how things are built and how content is structured and accelerated through our CMS. - B2B Enterprise Portal: A brand new product for a new business line, currently in its earliest stages, providing real room to design it the way it should be done. You'll work closely with our PM responsible for our web experience from day one, shaping the roadmap rather than receiving it. This role values your instincts about what to build next as much as your ability to build it. You'll report directly to our CTO and work in a team of front-end developers, closely collaborating with Product and Design. This isn't a role where you wait for specs and execute; you'll set the technical direction, define the architecture, and be the go-to person for hard decisions. You'll still write code every day, leading by example, not by delegation. You'll be the bridge between Product and Engineering on all web experiences, translating product vision into technical decisions, pushing back when something isn't feasible, and proactively flagging opportunities the product side might not see. Qualifications - 7+ years of front-end development experience with deep expertise in React and Next.js. - Strong Node.js skills - comfortable operating across the full front-end/backend boundary. - A genuine belief in AI-assisted engineering, with experience using AI tools in your own workflow. - A track record of architecting and owning front-end systems. - Experience setting technical direction and raising the quality bar in teams. - Startup mindset: making good decisions with incomplete information, moving fast, and owning outcomes end-to-end. - Experience working directly with Product teams in a cross-functional capacity. - Clear, structured communicator - able to articulate technical tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders. Requirements - Champion AI adoption across the frontend team. - Lead the team's CMS migration, owning both technical execution and long-term content infrastructure design. - Set technical standards, code quality bars, and front-end patterns for the team. - Drive performance, scalability, and long-term maintainability across all web properties. - Mentor and grow the front-end team as Roamless scales. Benefits - Stock options: All employees are eligible for stock options, subject to tenure and performance. - Hardware you need to be most productive. - Fully remote: The trust and flexibility that come with a fully-remote setup. - Supportive, diverse, inclusive team.
