Technical Lead
Bizee
About Bizee Bizee (formerly Incfile) has helped over 1 million entrepreneurs start and run their businesses. We are transforming from a transaction-focused formation business to an AI-powered operating system for entrepreneurs. We champion the everyday entrepreneur. We believe in self-determination, grit, and earned success. No fluff, no jargon, no pretense. We work hard, ship fast, and let our products speak for themselves. We are looking for engineers who build with craft and care and want to own a critical piece of the platform that powers the next generation of American businesses. What Makes Working Here Different - AI-Native Engineering: AI is not a bolt-on; it is our core. You will build with AI daily, ship AI-powered features, and coach your squad on how AI changes the way we develop software. - Own a Domain: Your squad owns a critical domain within Bizee's engineering organization. Depending on the squad, that could mean a customer-facing product journey, a shared platform capability, or core infrastructure that other teams build on. You ship work that directly impacts business outcomes. - Squad Model with Real Ownership: Your squad owns outcomes, not tickets. You have the autonomy to make technical decisions and the accountability to deliver results. - Craft Matters Here: We care about clean code, thoughtful design, and systems that other engineers enjoy working in. Your squad sets the quality standard for your domain. The Role As a Technical Lead, you lead a squad of 4-6 engineers responsible for one of Bizee's core engineering domains. This could be a product domain (Growth, Customer Experience, Agent Experience, Partner Enablement) or a platform domain (Core Services, Shared Infrastructure, Data Engineering). You are the technical owner for your domain, responsible for both engineering quality and delivery outcomes. This is a building role with leadership responsibilities. You spend 60%+ of your time writing production code and reviewing PRs. The rest goes to squad coordination, sprint planning, technical mentorship, and cross-squad alignment. If your approach is to "coordinate and delegate," this is not the right fit. You are the strongest engineer on your squad, and you prove it every sprint. This is an AI-native engineering role. You use AI tools daily to accelerate your own development and actively coach your squad on effective AI adoption. You are building AI-powered features into our product and intelligent automation into our platform, not just using AI to write boilerplate. We will ask you to demonstrate this with real examples. Reports to Engineering Manager. Works closely with Product Manager (for product squads), Principal Engineer, and peer Technical Leads on priorities and technical direction. What You Will Deliver - Squad Delivery: 85%+ sprint commitment rate for your squad. Weekly releases with zero rollbacks caused by preventable quality issues. - AI-Powered Capabilities: Ship AI-powered features, intelligent automation, or reusable platform capabilities into production within your domain that deliver measurable customer or business value. - Technical Ownership: Own and deliver the technical roadmap for your domain. Complete at least 1 major modernization initiative, whether that is decomposing a product monolith boundary or building a new shared platform service. - Engineering Quality: Establish automated testing standards with meaningful coverage improvements. For platform domains, this includes reliability and observability targets alongside test coverage. - AI Adoption: 100% of your squad actively using AI tools in daily workflows. Demonstrate AI-assisted development in every sprint review. - Team Development: Each engineer on your squad has a documented growth plan. At least 1 engineer ready for promotion or expanded scope within 12 months. - Cross-Squad Collaboration: Participate in solution design reviews. Ensure your squad's work creates clean interfaces, APIs, and contracts that other squads can build on. For platform squads, this means your services are well-documented, observable, and easy for product teams to consume.
Job Requirements
- What We Are Looking For
- AI-Native Builder: You use AI tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) daily and can demonstrate measurable productivity gains. You have shipped AI-powered features or products in production. You coach others on effective adoption.
- Hands-On Craft: You write production code every week. You can pick up the hardest ticket in the sprint and deliver it yourself when needed. Your code is clean, tested, and well-documented.
- Full-Stack Capability: Comfortable across backend and frontend. You understand APIs, data flows, and event-driven patterns. You evaluate decisions across the entire stack, not just your comfort zone. For platform-focused candidates, deep infrastructure expertise with working knowledge of the product layer is equally valued.
- Squad Leadership: You have led a team of 3-6 engineers. You run effective sprint ceremonies, unblock your team quickly, and create an environment where engineers do their best work.
- Delivery Discipline: Track record of shipping on time without sacrificing quality. You know when to cut scope, when to hold the line, and when to escalate.
- Outcome Orientation: You think in terms of customer and business impact, not just technical tasks. You can explain why your squad's work matters to the business, whether that is a product metric or a platform reliability SLA that unblocks other teams.
- What Will Make You Stand Out
- You can walk us through an AI-powered feature or intelligent automation you shipped in production, including why you made the design choices you made.
- You can show us your GitHub activity, recent PRs, or technical documents from the last 6 months that demonstrate your craft.
- You can demonstrate a specific AI-assisted development workflow that multiplied your team's output.
- Experience at a growth-stage company ($50M to $500M) with similar transformation challenges.
- Background in e-commerce, legal tech, fintech, or compliance-heavy industries.
- You have worked in the Prosumer or SMB space and understand the unique psychology of the small business owner.
- For platform candidates: experience building shared services, APIs, or developer platforms that product teams consume at scale.
- This Role Is NOT For You If...
- You see technical leadership as primarily a coordination role. You need to be the strongest builder on your squad.
- You have not personally used AI coding tools and are skeptical about their value.
- You think AI in product development is limited to adding a chatbot. We are building intelligence into every layer of our platform.
- You are uncomfortable being held accountable for delivery metrics alongside team health.
- You want to work exclusively in greenfield codebases. Our reality includes legacy systems that need to be progressively modernized with intelligence built in from the start.
- What We Do Not Care About
- Prestigious company names on your resume.
- Formal MBA or CS degrees (show us your results).
- Years of experience (show us your impact and velocity).
- Polished "corporate" personas (we want authentic, high-output builders).
- Interview Note: We will ask you to walk through a feature or system you recently shipped end-to-end, including how AI shaped your approach. We will ask you to review a real PR from our codebase. We will ask you to demonstrate your AI-assisted development workflow. Come prepared with specific, recent examples that show your craft.
