Role Description The Senior Manager, Energy Strategy will play a critical role in shaping and executing Edged’s power procurement and energy strategy in support of large-scale data center portfolio growth. As a member of the Energy team, you will work closely with the Acquisitions and Investments teams and work cross-functionally with Construction, Operations, Sales, and Finance to develop, evaluate, and execute energy initiatives that are aligned with client requirements and long-term business objectives. Key Responsibilities - Support strategic engagement with power utilities across the North American portfolio, including both developing new relationships as well as maintaining existing relationships. - Support power due diligence for prospective sites, including negotiation and execution of utility service agreements and infrastructure construction agreements. - Coordinate with onsite generation and other solution providers to enable seamless power delivery at Edged sites. - Support a variety of energy reporting needs that are utilized by internal and external stakeholders. - Collaborate with the Investment team, Legal, Operations, and Design and Construction teams to help foster a cohesive energy acquisition management program. - Support Edged’s needs for behind the meter power solutions, including natural gas supply and electricity generation technology vetting (both existing and new). Provide technical support to internal stakeholders to further understanding. - Support Edged’s demand response program development. - Stay up to date on energy industry technologies and innovations to support Edged’s energy strategy development and advancement. - Stay up to date on relevant energy regulations as appropriate for Edged’s current and future energy strategy execution. - Document and record successful processes and policies. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, energy management, or equivalent professional experience. - 5-10 years of energy industry experience, with deep industry contacts for support. - Knowledge of regulated utilities and ISOs/RTOs, including transmission system planning and rate design. - Exposure working with deregulated energy markets. - Experience negotiating contracts with utilities, retail electricity providers, and renewable developers including PPA’s and ESA’s. - Experience with gas contracting, both commodity and infrastructure. - Onsite generation system design and procurement. - Willingness to travel as required to fulfill job responsibilities. Skills & Abilities - Experience with evaluating onsite generation for data centers or other industrial consumers. - Demonstrated experience working directly with executives and collaborating effectively across all levels of the organization. - Sufficient maturity to exercise independent judgment on basic projects and assignments. - Strong analytical abilities, including problem solving and decision making. - Ability to deliver quality, accurate work within established deadlines. - Ability to demonstrate a questioning attitude to learn, produce results and develop relationships – internal and external to Edged. - Strong written and oral communication skills. - Expert with Excel and PowerPoint.
