Purpose of the Job: The Vice President - Finance and Accounting (VP) serves as a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) for assigned clients, including complex government and quasi-government organizations. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on financial management, providing clients with executive-level financial oversight, compliance assurance, and decision-making support. The VP leads ContinuServe’s delivery of finance and accounting services at the highest level of complexity, ensuring excellence in compliance, reporting, and strategic advisory, while managing and mentoring a delivery team. Roles and Responsibilities: Direct Client Services (80-90%) 1. Act as CFO and/or CAO for assigned clients, serving as the primary financial leader and trusted advisor to executive teams and boards. 2. Provide strategic financial planning, guidance, and insights to support organizational growth, sustainability, and mission alignment. 3. Lead preparation and delivery of monthly/quarterly financial reports, including analysis of financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and cash flow. 4. Present financial results and recommendations to executive leadership, finance committees, and boards of directors. 5. Oversee compliance with accounting standards (GAAP), federal cost principles, and funding regulations, including 2 CFR 200 Uniform Guidance and state-level requirements (e.g., Illinois GATA). 6. Partner with client leadership to develop annual budgets, multi-year forecasts, and scenario planning models. 7. Assess financial risks and recommend mitigation strategies, including liquidity management, reserves planning, and investment policies. 8. Lead and oversee annual audits, single audits, and grantor reviews, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant submissions. 9. Evaluate and recommend process improvements, internal controls, and technology solutions to enhance client efficiency. 10. Support strategic initiatives, including mergers, capital projects, new funding streams, and government grant applications. 11. Provide advisory on technical accounting matters including ASC updates, allocation methodologies, and indirect cost rates. 12. Build and sustain collaborative relationships with client executives, boards, funders, and other key stakeholders. Direct Supervisory Responsibilities (5-10%): 1. Oversee finance and accounting teams (controllers, managers, analysts) assigned to client engagements. 2. Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and quality of team deliverables in line with client contracts and service expectations. 3. Provide mentoring, coaching, and career development support to direct reports. 4. Manage staff performance, workload balance, and adherence to professional standards. Practice Management Support (0-10%) 1. Partner with the Assistant Practice Leader to ensure client portfolio success, including margin management, SLA adherence, compliance, and client satisfaction. 2. Provide input into practice-wide initiatives, including standardization of processes, training, and knowledge-sharing. 3. Support development of thought leadership, industry expertise, and technical training within ContinuServe. 4. Contribute to strategic planning for client expansion and cross-service growth. Other Duties and Responsibilities: (0-5%): 1. Represent ContinuServe as a thought leader at industry forums, presentations, and client community events. 2. Support scope reviews, pricing, and contract management to ensure engagement profitability. 3. Engage in volunteer or community activities aligned with client missions. 4. Perform other duties as assigned by ContinuServe leadership. Extent of Public Duties: 1. Serves as a representative of ContinuServe as a “Thought-Leader” to various organizations within the industry and broader community, displaying courtesy, tact, consideration, and discretion in all interactions. General Knowledge and Skills: Required: • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. • 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting leadership experience, including prior CFO, CAO, or equivalent senior executive role. • Government Accounting: Government/fund accounting experience with internal controls, audit approaches, and understanding financial activity within public sector frameworks. • Experience managing capital assets, equipment, machinery, and depreciation. • Deep knowledge of accounting standards (GAAP) and federal compliance requirements (2 CFR 200 Uniform Guidance, indirect cost rates, single audits). • Demonstrated experience presenting to and advising boards of directors and finance committees. • Proven ability to manage teams and deliver results across multiple clients or organizations. • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting/ERP systems. • Strong interpersonal, communication, and client relationship management skills. • Business acumen with ability to align financial strategy with mission and operations. Compensation: Starting salary range: $150,000 - $190,000 annually, commensurate with experience. Preferred: • Master’s degree (MBA, MPA) or CPA designation. • Experience in BPO, consulting, or professional services environments. • Experience managing offshore/global teams. Physical Demands: This position requires daily use of fingers, talking, sitting, listening, and vision. Equipment used includes, but is not limited to: computers and keyboards, calculators, writing utensils, and telephones. Employee must be able to lift up to 40 pounds. Travel Requirements: This position predominantly operates in a hybrid work environment: either from a home office or at a local office/client site dependent on the needs of the business.
