Role Description Kemper is seeking a Commercial Underwriting Manager to report to the Alpharetta, GA office. Our managers guide the work activities of Underwriting, Customer Service and QA staff for performance and development in accordance with Corporate and Department strategic direction. Come be part of a team you can see a future with! - Oversees Risk Eligibility and Risk Class Underwriting for Commercial Auto, GL and Cargo. - Manages Effective and Efficient Delivery of Customer Service to Agents and Insureds. - Ensures timely preparation and submission of performance evaluations, salary adjustment and discipline. - Provides final approval/denial of risks outside the UW III authority up to (1) Million in liability, fleet policies in excess of $20K in premium, loss history on large accounts and policies with a state or federal filing. - Alerts Product Management of pricing and/or rule guide discrepancies & systems issues. - Provides support needs for Director responsibilities when absent. Qualifications - Associates or higher degree in Business Management preferred. - High school diploma and five (5) years of Insurance Industry Management experience preferred. - Bilingual in Spanish is desired. - Must have strong critical thinking, organizational and above average written/verbal communication skills. - Demonstrated problem solving abilities to ensure proper handling of duties. - Detailed knowledge of Company’s underwriting guidelines, rating manuals, processing systems and applicable insurance laws preferred.
