Quality Control Field Technician – Contract

• Perform product hardware installations for first fit "pilot" customers and projects requiring travel up to 90% monthly. • Self-manage what is needed for each job: inventory, tools, travel, and familiarity of products to be an expert on hardware installation and performance. • Perform software-to-hardware commissioning and firmware updating to manufacturer specifications. • Perform field inspections on materials, products, and processes to verify quality and compliance with regulatory standards, specifications, and client requirements. • Conduct routine testing (e.g., visual inspections, measurements, sample collection, etc.) on-site to monitor product quality and identify potential issues early in the process. • Document and report any deviations from product quality standards and escalate them to the appropriate personnel. • Ensure trailer manufacturer activities adhere to product safety and quality protocols. • Monitor trailer production processes to ensure product compliance with quality control procedures, standards, and industry best practices. • Assist in performing corrective actions or recommend improvements when non-conformities are identified. • Record and maintain accurate, up-to-date field data, test results, and inspection reports in the company’s database. • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports summarizing product findings, trends, and any issues discovered during inspections. • Compile statistical analysis and make recommendations for product quality improvements. • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients during on-site quality control activities. • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing client questions and concerns regarding quality or compliance issues. • Ensure that client specifications are met and document any changes or modifications needed during the project. • As needed, train customer resources to be able to perform QC activities themselves. • Ensure all testing equipment is calibrated and properly maintained for accurate field testing. • Adhere to all safety standards and protocols while on-site to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and others. • Provide training and guidance to FleetPulse Support Team, ensuring they understand quality control procedures and the performance and expectations of the product.
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience in quality control, field inspections, or related technical field. Minimum five years.
- Strong understanding of vehicle hardware aftermarket installations, product fit/form/function quality, CAN/J1939 signal decipher, and electronics testing.
- Familiarity with trucking industry trailer operations and safety specifications.
- Ability to interpret technical documents, engineering drawings, and recreate them with provider approval.
- Basic knowledge of calibration and maintenance of testing equipment and tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office programs or equivalent methods to record and report jobs.
