Executive Director – Health Information Management Operations
Wellstar Health System
• Develops and leads the strategic direction of HIM at WellStar Health System • Networks with other top tier organizations to bring changes necessary to ensure that the WellStar integrated medical record is precise and of the utmost integrity • Responsible for setting corporate policies and oversight of all HIM operational processes in the inpatient, hospital outpatient department, and ambulatory setting for all WellStar locations • Manages vendor and contract relationships alongside the Regional Director, ensuring adherence and negotiation of contracts • Ensures compliance with all regulatory and accreditation agencies and other rules for HIM functions
Job Requirements
- Associates Health Information Management or Bachelor's Health Information Management-Preferred or Bachelor's Business Administration/Management-Preferred or Bachelor's Other-Preferred or Masters Other-Preferred
- All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated. RHIA - Reg Health Information Admin or RHIT - Reg Health Information Tech
- Minimum 10 years experience in managing health information operations including in a large inpatient facility (preferably a multi-hospital system) with an increasing scope of responsibility and experience implementing an electronic health record required
- Minimum 5 years of direct supervisory/leadership leadership experience in the job area required
- Knowledge in and the ability to apply the principles of HIM, project management, and change management. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complex tasks. Leads and directs the work of others. Must have the ability to prioritize appropriately. Must be detail orientated and have the ability to multitask. A wide degree of creativity, critical thinking and latitude is required. Demonstrated organization, facilitation, communication, and presentation skills, including effectively interacting with physicians, patients, staff, vendors and leaders. Must possess the ability to function independently, yet productively as a cooperative team member with various work teams associated with the position.
