Design Engineer II – Structures

• Ensure the successful integration of design elements with the product as a whole • Development of aircraft structural layouts and design of individual components, assemblies, and installations • Design and integration of aircraft mechanical systems, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, environmental control systems • Apply standard engineering practices and techniques to provide effective solutions to complex problems • Generate and revise specifications when necessary • Create & release composite details utilizing Fibersim or CATIA CPD • Participate in process improvement projects • Support design reviews with relevant information and understanding
Job Requirements
- Requires a BSME, BSCE, BSAE, or a Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field
- Minimum of 5-9 years of experience in the Aerospace Industry or in a related field
- Proficiency using NX, CATIA V5/V6 or CREO
- Highly competent using MS Office products.

• Design and develop enclosures, brackets, and other mechanical components for ECUs, sensors, control modules, and power electronics, focusing on high-volume, cost-effective manufacturing. • Collaborate with electronics hardware teams to assess and improve the mechanical robustness of designs during early development phases. • Use GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) to create detailed manufacturing drawings. • Work with suppliers to ensure components and assemblies meet automotive quality standards. • Conduct DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and DFA (Design for Assembly) analyses to optimize designs for production. • Support the execution of mechanical reliability tests (e.g., vibration, thermal cycling, environmental stress) on ECU enclosures. • Analyze field performance data and warranty returns to identify mechanical design issues and drive corrective actions. • Conduct Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to identify and mitigate potential mechanical failures. • Act as a subject matter expert for mechanical design best practices within the organization. • Generate technical documentation, including mechanical test plans, reports, and qualification summaries.

• Assist in client contact, connections, and finding opportunities, increasing the mission critical work that Arcadis performs • Provide expert consultant mechanical engineering advice to our clients in the data center space • Familiarity with industry standards, building codes, both in how those specifically apply to data centers and how they may change for the mission critical industry going forward • Guide as to the pros and cons of system types and rack cooling strategies • Coordinate with other internal/external engineering disciplines, vendors, and contractors • Act as point of contact for mechanical discipline in high-level and key decision discussions with data center clients • Participate in all phases of a project from pursuit and proposals through design, and construction • Create thought leadership opportunities to expand Arcadis's touch and brand in the data center market • Assist in the preparation of proposals, specifically the potential engineering approach and strategy for winning • Travel as required to attend pursuit discussions, project meetings, and collaboration with clients’ team members • Work in a collaborative team environment that includes colleagues from locations throughout the world • Provide mentoring to staff
