The Network Field Operations Specialist reports to the Supervisor, Network Support, and is accountable for all aspects of work associated with the installation, maintenance, repair, testing and configuration of Information Technology equipment. Equipment types include network devices, Remote Terminal Units, telecommunication circuits, two-way radios, mobile computing, and other devices. The Network Field Operations Specialist also performs or coordinates preventative maintenance, site inspections, document preparation, material requisitions and other work assigned by the Supervisor. Responsibilities Include: - Demonstrate a solid commitment to all aspects of safety. - Under general supervision, administer, oversee, and direct the installation, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting and repair of network devices, Remote Terminal Units, telecommunication circuits, two-way radios, mobile computing, and other devices. - Schedule and coordinate work assigned to individuals in a work group and manage the group's assignments and maintenance tasks. - Assume Supervisor's responsibilities when the supervisor is unavailable. - Provide technical support for communications and computer equipment by receiving, resolving, documenting and following up on trouble calls and requests for assistance. - Coordinate and perform NERC Compliance related activities, such as equipment maintenance and change management - Inspect telecommunications equipment and facilities, measuring critical parameters, and generating reports to document compliance as required by legal and regulatory entities. - Provide technical support for communications and computer equipment by receiving, resolving, documenting and following up on trouble calls and requests for assistance. - Respond to after-hours calls, participate in on-call procedure, and travel overnight as required. - Prepare written procedures required for coordinating equipment additions or modifications. - Coordinate and direct the installation, testing and troubleshooting of premise wiring used for voice, data and video applications. - Coordinate Information Technology projects - Review and verify engineering drawings for accuracy and making field changes to update or correct. - Identify materials, equipment, special tools and permits required to complete projects and maintenance activities. - Create project as-built documentation. - Provide assistance during emergencies and storm-related restoration - Keeping abreast of industry-accepted, evolving and developing IT and Telecommunications technologies. - Keeping work sites in order, cleaning periodically and at work completion. Qualifications include: - Bachelor or associate’s degree in engineering, computer science, telecommunications, electrical engineering, electronic or related field with 7 years of related experience required. In lieu of a degree, 9 years of related experience will be considered. - Related experience includes, but is not limited to: the installation, maintenance, repair, testing and configuration of Information Technology equipment including network devices, Remote Terminal Units, telecommunication circuits, two-way radios, mobile computing, voice, data, video, and other devices - Experience with and working knowledge of National Electric Safety Code (NESC) and National Electric Code (NEC) preferred. - Demonstrated experience in creating and/or interpreting engineering drawings, electrical schematics, equipment manuals, instruction manuals and procedures to develop accurate work plans. - Ability to work effectively with engineering and management personnel, along with interfacing and working cooperatively with customers, contractors and the general public, in a professional and courteous manner. Must meet customer needs and foster good working relationships. - Demonstrated proficiency with PC software applications including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.), SAP, and various industry-standard telecommunications Network Management Systems. - Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment - Ability to manage, organize and prioritize work, while maintaining strong attention to detail. - Possess effective oral and written communication skills. - Be self-motivated with a questioning attitude to continue to learn, produce results, and strengthen existing relationships. - Possess a valid driver's license.
