Finance Intern

Synctera

Role Description We’re looking for a highly motivated Intern with a knack for AI to join our Finance team to support process improvement and high-impact projects across our finance and accounting workflows. This internship will begin on June 15 and end on July 24, for a total length of 6 weeks. - Support projects focused on standardizing finance and accounting processes for efficiency. - Use AI tools, especially Claude, to help design and execute workflow improvements and automation opportunities. - Assist with invoice reconciliation work, including evaluating current workflows and comparing manual processes to API-based options. - Help maintain the contract database by mapping renewal timelines, organizing key contract details, and supporting automated renewal notifications. - Build dashboards and reporting to improve visibility into contracts, vendors, and finance operations. - Research vendor options and compare market pricing to support decision-making. - Support accounting reviews and reconciliation projects by organizing data, identifying discrepancies, and improving tracking. - Use Excel and Google Sheets to analyze data, create trackers, and support ongoing reporting. Qualifications - Strong AI skills are required, including hands-on experience using Claude to analyze information, improve workflows, and support execution. - Strong Excel and Google Sheets skills. - Basic business and accounting knowledge. - Ability to manage projects independently and execute work to a high standard. - Strong attention to detail and sound judgment when working with data. - Clear written and verbal communication skills. The target pay range for this position is $23.00 - $26.00 per hour. - Perform a thorough analysis to ensure the quality of each loan and to determine compliance with Treasury, Company and Investor guidelines. - Conduct Verification of Income (VOI). - Calculate customer’s front and back-end debt to income ratio. - Verify occupancy, hardship and income. - Apply payment waterfall to determine workout eligibility (repayment plan, forbearance, modification or liquidation options). - If applicable, identify the type(s) and amounts of liquid assets the borrower holds. - Determine and communicate needed conditions to properly document the file (reason for default letter, updated pay stubs, bankruptcy papers, etc.). - Complete system tasks as required to maintain compliance with Treasury, Company and Investor guidelines. - Document final decision and update system of record. Qualifications - High school diploma or equivalent required. - 1 to 2 years of Loss Mitigation Underwriting experience to be considered!
