Engineering Manager
SyncteraBanking as a Service powering the future of finance: accounts, cards, payments, lending, and more. Let's build ✨🪐
Role Description We’re looking for an Engineering Manager who can lead a small, experienced team doing high-ownership work in a regulated environment. This is not a role for someone who wants to sit above the work. It’s for someone who can help engineers make good decisions, keep teams focused through ambiguity, and stay close enough to the technical work to contribute when it makes sense. - Support teams building both customer-facing compliance products and core platform capabilities. - Work spans data-intensive systems for automated compliance monitoring and control testing. - Involves foundational platform services such as tenant management, event and webhook infrastructure, API ingress and egress. - Turn ambiguous problems into a clear plan, make practical tradeoffs, and keep teams focused on the work that matters most. - Not looking for someone who only manages from a distance or relies on generic leadership language. - Must have actually led backend or platform teams, improved operations, and worked in systems where correctness, reliability, and operational judgment matter. Qualifications - 8+ years of professional experience as a software engineer. - 3+ years of experience directly managing engineers, including coaching, performance feedback, and hiring involvement. - Experience leading backend or platform teams working on systems with real operational complexity. - Strong proficiency in Go, with hands-on experience building and maintaining production systems. - Technical depth to contribute to architecture discussions, challenge assumptions, and jump into the code when useful. - Experience navigating ambiguous problems and turning them into clear plans, priorities, and tradeoffs. - Good judgment around scope, sequencing, and risk, especially when work spans multiple stakeholders or competing demands. - A track record of being accountable for team output, not just individual contribution. - Experience in fintech, banking, infrastructure, developer tooling, or other regulated systems is strongly preferred. - Comfort working in environments where reliability, compliance, auditability, and operational risk matter. Requirements - Lead and develop engineers across multiple backend and platform teams, including coaching, performance feedback, hiring, and day-to-day prioritization. - Turn ambiguous work into a clear execution plan and keep that plan aligned with product, engineering, and business stakeholders. - Partner closely with engineers on architecture and technical tradeoffs across customer-facing products and shared platform services. - Stay close enough to the technical work to review approaches, unblock decisions, and contribute code when it makes sense. - Support teams building reliable backend and platform systems, including event-driven services, operational workflows, internal tooling, shared infrastructure, and data-intensive applications. - Improve how the team works by tightening scope, raising execution quality, and ensuring engineers have the context they need to move quickly. - Work cross-functionally with product, compliance, and other engineering teams to surface risks early and keep delivery grounded in business needs. - Help the team balance roadmap commitments with platform maintenance, operational responsibilities, and long-term investments in reliability, scalability, and engineering quality. Benefits - 100% employer paid medical, dental, and vision benefits for US and Canadian employees and dependents. - Employer contribution to HSA for US employees. - Annual HCSA and generous extended health care coverage for Canadian employees and dependents. - 401(k) for US employees and RRSP for Canadian employees. - Mental health resources available for all employees. - Unlimited paid time off. - Generous paid new parent leave program. - Home office setup stipend. - Stock options program for all employees. - Growth potential and opportunity to have a significant impact at an early stage of our company's journey. - Working alongside a skilled and passionate team.
Director, Marketing
SyncteraBanking as a Service powering the future of finance: accounts, cards, payments, lending, and more. Let's build ✨🪐
Role Description Synctera is hiring a Director, Marketing to own and drive our full marketing function. This is a high-impact, high-visibility leadership role for someone who wants to own the whole game: brand, demand generation, product marketing, events, content, and revenue impact. You'll set the strategy and roll up your sleeves to execute it. You'll be accountable for how Synctera shows up in the market across every channel and audience, from the fintech founder evaluating infrastructure partners to the community bank executive deciding who to trust with their BaaS strategy. You'll partner closely with Sales, Product, and Engineering to build a marketing engine that generates pipeline, accelerates deals, and cements Synctera's position as the definitive embedded finance platform. This role is for a builder who thrives without a playbook. The right candidate has B2B marketing leadership experience, knows the fintech space, and has a track record of building marketing programs that drive measurable revenue outcomes. What You'll Do - Own and drive Synctera's demand generation engine across paid, organic, email, and partner-led channels; set pipeline targets, build campaigns, and report on marketing's contribution to revenue. - Lead brand positioning and messaging across all audiences, from developers and fintech founders to bank executives and investors. - Own the marketing of product launches, new features, and platform enhancements — from messaging and positioning to launch campaigns, sales enablement, and post-launch performance tracking. - Develop and refine positioning and messaging for key use cases and customer segments, translating complex and technical subject matter into narratives that resonate with both technical and commercial audiences. - Conduct competitive research and synthesize market intelligence into clear, actionable direction for product, sales, and leadership. - Partner on co-marketing opportunities alongside fintech customers and bank partners, helping bring their launches to life while reinforcing Synctera's brand. - Develop and maintain sales enablement materials: pitch decks, one-pagers, use case narratives, and objection-handling guides that make it easy for the revenue team to walk into any conversation and win. - Own Synctera's events strategy and budget across fintech, bank, and vertical SaaS conferences, hosted roundtables, customer advisory boards, webinars, and partner co-marketing activations. - Execute our customer and partner communications program, including the monthly product update, the community newsletter to fintech customers and bank partners, and the quarterly bank partner newsletter. - Produce thought leadership content: blog posts, guest articles, whitepapers, and webinars that position Synctera as the leader in embedded finance. - Manage Synctera's LinkedIn presence and broader social media strategy to build brand recognition in the embedded finance ecosystem. - Own the marketing tech stack (HubSpot and related tools), attribution reporting, and funnel metrics; present pipeline and revenue impact to leadership regularly. - Build and manage vendor and agency relationships, including hiring, coaching, and budget ownership. Qualifications - 8 to 12 years of B2B marketing experience, with at least 2 to 3 years in a marketing leadership role owning a full-funnel function. - Deep familiarity with the embedded finance, banking-as-a-service, or payments infrastructure space; you understand how FinTech companies are built and what they actually care about when evaluating infrastructure partners. - Proven track record of owning marketing pipeline and revenue goals, with a data-driven approach to decision-making and optimization. - Strong writer and storyteller with the ability to translate complex, technical, and regulated subject matter into clear narratives for multiple audiences: founders, bank executives, developers, and investors. - Experience leading product launches end-to-end across cross-functional teams, with a clear process for managing timelines, stakeholders, and post-launch measurement. - Comfort working in a small, scrappy environment where you will set the strategy, write the copy, build the deck, and send the email. Nice to Have - Experience marketing to or alongside community banks or credit unions.
