Role Description Seeking a WAN Network Engineer with experience in operating complex WAN environments supporting networks running a variety of different routing and encryption protocols (BGP, LISP/GETVPN, IPSec) along with experience managing a Cisco centric WAN enterprise architecture. The ideal candidate would be well versed in various security platforms from multiple vendors including, but not limited to Cisco routers and switches, Palo Alto, and F5. The candidate will have a solid understanding of WAN enterprise networks and associated technologies (i.e. QoS, IP SLA, block list management, circuit actions and configuration management) to provide a secure, reliable, fault-tolerant network. The candidate will join a team of Engineers with the task of assessing network requirements, sustainment activities and implement approved network designs for the Defense Health Agency (DHA) MEDCOI enterprise. - Support circuit actions to include new activations, re-engineering, rehomes and circuit provision upgrades. - Familiarity with using monitoring systems and tools for capacity planning. - Familiarity with routing protocols/services including BGP, LISP, GETVPN, Cisco hardware and IOS management, IP SLA probes implementations and sustainment. - Review and maintain existing security measures to include enhancement recommendations. - Design and assist deployment engineers with implementation of enterprise-class router scripts upgrades for the deployment efforts. - Develop, engineer and document cloud based emerging technology solutions across a multi-vendor platform including Amazon, Oracle and Microsoft. - Perform WAN troubleshooting assistance as reported and assigned from submitted trouble tickets. - Have familiarity with network monitoring and troubleshooting systems/tools including Check_MK, LiveAction, Solar Winds, NMIS, Wireshark, MobaXterm, Cisco CTC, Cisco Anyconnect client for remote access. - Keep informed of network technologies and solutions to provide the best for the network architecture, configurations, and standards. - Identify and communicate current and emerging security threats. - Appropriately assess all existing and future network architectural plans to ensure the optimization of resources to provide the best infrastructure to support the applications. - Work with network vendors to develop the most optimal plans while utilizing the best technology to eliminate redundancy and ensure data security. - Manage projects related to the design and implementation of new network-related technologies. - Develop educational materials for the specific learning needs of the Operation teams. - Ability to document to create documentation that support all projects. - Participate in team meetings to keep everyone up to date on assigned projects. - Submit timely and complete weekly/monthly reports. - Conduct instructional sessions for the deployment and sustainment staff. - This position is designed to be flexible, with responsibilities evolving to meet business needs and enable individual growth. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field or equivalent experience plus 5-7 years’ experience in a network engineering or telecommunication environment. - OS certification requirement (CCNA or higher) and 8570 Requirement: Engineering – IAT Level II (CCNA Security and SSCP) able to obtain both OS and Security Certifications. - Knowledge of Cisco routers and switches. - IP Network Design & troubleshooting skills. - Understanding of authentication schemes, security assessment and network management. - Experience designing and deploying network solutions in enterprises environments. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Experience in large scale enterprise network rollout and support. - Strong interpersonal skills, and ability to communicate with technical and non-technical personnel. Requirements - Expertise with LAN/WAN technologies throughout a global infrastructure. - Minimum 10 years Network Administration experience (Cisco, Palo Alto, F5, Fidelis, etc.). - Minimum 4 years working on enterprise sized networks. - Familiarity with DISA STIG requirements. - Expertise with Cisco ASR and ISR routers and 9300/9500/4500-x series switches. - Experience configuring and troubleshooting GetVPN/LISP and IPSEC VPN tunnels. - Experience working in and developing solutions in commercial and on-premises private cloud environments including AWS and Microsoft Azure. - Experience with Application Programming Interfaces (API) of various network devices. - Familiar with engineering platforms AWS, Azure and MilCloud 2.0. - Cloud automation utilizing Java, Jenkins, Python, PowerShell, DevOps, Code Deploy and Cloud Formation. - Cloud networking technologies Transit Gateway, Customer Gateways, Virtual Private Gateways, Internet Gateways, Peering, MeetMe, UDR, ExpressRoute. - Native cloud security tools Azure Security Center, Azure Virtual Network TAP, Azure Log, AWS logging and CloudWatch as well as non-native cloud security tools. Role Description The Network Security Firewall Engineer will configure, monitor and maintain network security equipment including, access control lists (ACLs), layer 3 and 4 firewalls, and layer 4-7 application-aware firewalls. - Skill in implementation of physical and virtual firewalls. - Experience with Remedy trouble ticketing system. - Manage firewall and network security systems by establishing and enforcing approved policies. - Ability to research and verify ports, protocol and services (PPS) for security compliance. - A thorough understanding of how applications communicate over the network using source and destination IP addresses, ports and protocols. - Ability to analyze network security requirements and implement perimeter security changes. - Serve as a subject matter expert in coordinating and troubleshooting with customers, other infrastructure support activities and business units. - Develop network documentation of security infrastructure. - Troubleshooting a variety of products within a multi-vendor environment. - Monitor network performance and implement performance tuning as necessary. - Utilize industry best practices for security, disaster recovery, business continuity, change control, the engineer will design, configure, manage and troubleshoot a variety of network firewall technologies. - This position is designed to be flexible, with responsibilities evolving to meet business needs and enable individual growth. Qualifications - Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance (preference goes to candidates who possess an Active Secret Clearance). - 8+ years of Networking experience. - Knowledge or experience of Cisco ASA and Palo Alto Firewalls. - Experience in administrating and troubleshooting firewalls in medium to large, complex organizations. - Preferred applicants will also have experience with intrusion detection systems, VPN technologies, vulnerability assessment tools, event and log analysis solutions, configuration and change management and other network security systems and devices. - Solid experience configuring and troubleshooting routing and switched infrastructure. - Experience with packet capture and analysis methodologies. - Preferred applicants will also be familiar with government information assurance standards including DISA STIGs, NIST 800-53, IAVAs management, auditing and accreditation processes. - Experience scripting with Python, Java, and or Perl.
