Principal Mechanical Engineer
EC Source Services, LLC
• Serve as the technical authority and discipline lead for all mechanical engineering aspects of power delivery projects. • Oversee and review the design of HVAC systems, oil containment, cooling systems, piping, conduit supports, equipment enclosures, and other mechanical components for substations and related facilities. • Lead the development and review of calculations, specifications, design drawings, and construction documentation. • Provide mechanical design guidance for transformer installations, gas-insulated substations (GIS), and high-voltage equipment layouts. • Support thermal and ventilation studies, ensuring that substation environments maintain safe and efficient operating conditions. • Collaborate with civil, electrical, and structural teams to deliver fully integrated and constructible design solutions. • Conduct site visits and field assessments to collect data, verify conditions, and support construction and commissioning activities. • Manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, and deliverables to ensure high-quality and timely completion. • Lead the development of standards, procedures, and best practices for mechanical design in power delivery applications. • Mentor and provide technical guidance to mechanical engineers, designers, and CAD technicians. • Serve as a client-facing technical expert, presenting engineering solutions, addressing complex challenges, and supporting business development activities. • Ensure adherence to QA/QC procedures, safety standards, and applicable codes (ASME, NFPA, API, IEEE, and NESC).
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering ( Master’s degree preferred).
- 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience in power delivery, substations, or energy infrastructure.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required preferred.
- Strong understanding of fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and mechanical systems for substation or industrial facilities.
- Proficiency with design and analysis software such as AutoCAD, Revit, CFD, Pipe-Flo, or Thermoflow.
- FEA software proficiency: Expertise in using FEA software (e.g., ANSYS and/or SolidWorks), modeling CAD software.
- In-depth knowledge of industry standards (ASME, NFPA, API, IEEE, NESC, and IEC).
- Proven experience in project management, team leadership, and client relations.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects and guide cross-disciplinary teams to successful outcomes.

• Plan and implement cost-effective and reliant mechanical designs and distribution systems • Work with internal business partners like Technical Project Management, Data Center IT, IT Procurement, Network Engineering, and with external vendors to validate and test installation & operation performance of data center mechanical systems • Create designs which meet and exceed Nebius’s quality benchmarks within our budget capacity • Seek new designs and amalgamate new technologies within Nebius AI’s data center planning and infrastructure • Identify and document list of electrical equipment and components required during the build/installation phase • Work on multiple projects in different locations, and visit the construction sites to oversee the work of external vendors and contractors
• Plan, validate and verify the roll out of reliant electrical systems • Work with our internal and external business partners • Create designs which meet and exceed Nebius’s quality benchmarks on time and within budget • Seek new designs and amalgamate new technologies within Nebius AI’s data center planning and infrastructure
• Design electrical enclosures, control cabinets, and chassis systems • Create 2D and 3D CAD models and drawing packages (AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar) • Support panel layout, connector placement, and cable routing design • Interpret and work from electrical schematics and system requirements • Ensure designs meet EMC, seismic, and environmental standards • Support integration, testing, and validation of hardware designs • Document designs and support design reviews and verification activities • Collaborate with customers and internal teams to define scope and resolve issues
