Clearance: Secret Location: Remote Responsibilities: - Assist in administering and maintaining Sybase ASE/SQL databases and associated configurations in Azure and hybrid environments. - Monitor database performance, system alerts, scheduled jobs, and resource utilization; escalate issues to senior team members as needed. - Support routine database tasks including backups, restores, health checks, and basic maintenance activities. - Help troubleshoot Sybase database issues such as connectivity problems, slow queries, or job failures under supervision. - Participate in database updates, schema changes, and script execution related to application and environment changes. Minimum Requirements: - Basic understanding of Sybase ASE/SQL concepts, SQL fundamentals, and relational database principles. - Familiarity with database tools such as Sybase Central, isql, or similar utilities (coursework, labs, or hands‑on practice acceptable). - Awareness of backup/restore processes, database security practices, and performance‑related basics. - Strong problem‑solving mindset, attention to detail, and willingness to follow established procedures. • Work as a member of the DBA team, primarily partnering with the Application Development teams to provide guidance, troubleshooting and optimization for in-house applications • Perform DBA Duties such as responding to requests for database support, monitoring database availability, performing backups, managing user access, participating in failover testing, and other normal activity • Document the database environment using industry standard diagramming techniques showing application/database dependencies. Additionally, you will be creating a data dictionary and documenting data mappings between disparate data sources • Perform DDL and application code reviews for functionality related to a database • Understand programming language (python, java, similar) and make informed design suggestions for efficient and logical use of the data and of database resources • Provide high-end technical DBA support within a variety of Operating Environments (OE) while also supporting/assisting software development and operational teams with database definition, structure, long-range requirements, operational guidelines, and security/integrity controls according to industry best practices • Help Design and implement a new Database dependent application, planning for minimal migration downtime and resiliency • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across database and application tiers • Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution • Work closely with L1/L2/L3 support teams to proactively identify and resolve issues • Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation

How You’ll Make a Difference: - Lead the design, implementation, and management of enterprise data platforms across hybrid environments, including on-premises and cloud-based systems. - Administer and optimize databases such as SQL Server on Virtual Machines (on-prem & Azure IaaS), Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, Snowflake, and Azure Cosmos DB. - Manage mission-critical workloads, ensuring data security and compliance, and implement scalable solutions for both OLTP and analytical environments. - Play a key role in database upgrades, migrations, disaster recovery, automation, performance tuning, and incident/change management, aligning with ITIL best practices and enterprise governance standards. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field. - 7–10+ years of experience as a Database Administrator. - Strong experience with SQL Server (2017–2022+) and Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Managed Instance. - Expertise in performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization. - Experience with HA/DR solutions (Always On, clustering, log shipping, replication). - Knowledge of backup/recovery strategies and disaster recovery planning. - Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP). - Strong understanding of database security and encryption techniques. - Proficiency in scripting and automation. - Working knowledge of Snowflake architecture, administration, and cost management. - Experience managing or supporting Azure Cosmos DB (Core SQL API preferred). - Experience operating in ITIL‑aligned environments for incident, change, and problem management. - Exposure to DevOps / CI‑CD practices for database deployments is a plus.
