• Design, develop, and maintain scalable web applications across the full stack (front-end, back-end, databases, and APIs). • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to translate requirements into technical solutions. • Build responsive, user-friendly interfaces using modern front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue). • Develop robust server-side logic, RESTful APIs, and microservices using languages such as Node.js, Python, Java, or .NET. • Create and optimize database schemas, queries, and data models (SQL and/or NoSQL). • Implement secure authentication, authorization, and data protection best practices. • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following industry standards. • Conduct code reviews, troubleshoot issues, and optimize application performance. • Integrate third-party APIs, cloud services, and internal systems. • Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement. • Deploy, monitor, and maintain applications using CI/CD pipelines and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP). • Ensure cross-browser compatibility, accessibility, and high-quality user experiences. • Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend improvements to the tech stack.

Job Requirements

  • Proficiency in front-end technologies: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern frameworks.
  • Strong back-end development experience with one or more server-side languages.
  • Experience with relational and non-relational databases.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (Git).

About the Role We are seeking a Senior Cloud Software Engineer to provide advanced application support for cloud-based application development, modernization, and implementation in support of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO). The Senior Cloud Software Engineer supports HUD’s enterprise modernization strategy by designing, developing, and deploying secure, scalable cloud applications. This role will deliver end-to-end features across UI, services, data, and integrations, while working within HUD’s PPM Life Cycle, Agile delivery practices, and AI readiness to improve customer experience (CX) and mission outcomes. This is a fully remote position supporting a federal government contract that requires a federal background check and NACI clearance. Candidates must reside in the United States. Responsibilities Cloud Application Development - Build and maintain full-stack, cloud-hosted applications (frontend, backend, APIs, integrations). - Lead end-to-end solution design, coding, code reviews, and integration for enterprise applications. - Develop prototypes, proofs of concept (PoCs), and pilots; mature successful solutions to production scale. - Produce and maintain technical documentation (designs, test plans, architecture diagrams, deployment/runbooks) in approved repositories. - Ensure secure coding, automated testing, CI/CD, and alignment with 508 accessibility and CX validation. - Collaborate closely with UX, data, DevOps, security, and program management teams; support briefings/demos and technical reviews. Cloud Infrastructure & DevSecOps - Automate infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates. - Design and implement CI/CD pipelines to support automated software development and deployment workflows. - Integrate security testing and compliance checks into DevSecOps pipelines (SAST, DAST, dependency scanning). Enterprise Modernization Support - Support migration and modernization of legacy systems to cloud environments. - Build and modernize full stack applications using cloud native architectures, integrating modern front end frameworks with scalable backend services and APIs. - Collaborate with enterprise architects to implement scalable platform services supporting AI and advanced analytics initiatives. Security & Compliance - Ensure cloud solutions meet federal cybersecurity standards including NIST 800-53, FISMA, and Zero Trust architecture principles. - Implement secure identity and access management integrations aligned with EICAM and Zero Trust requirements. - Support security monitoring, logging, and compliance reporting within cloud environments. Collaboration & Agile Delivery - Work within Agile development teams supporting iterative delivery of HUD modernization initiatives. - Collaborate with product owners, data architects, cybersecurity teams, and business analysts to translate requirements into technical solutions. - Contribute technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and system design artifacts. Requirements Required Experience and Skills - 8+ years of full-stack development with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP). - Front-end development expertise designing and coding user interfaces with frameworks React.js and React + TypeScript. - Back-end development experience writing server-side logic using Node.js, Python (Django/Flask), Java (Spring Boot), or .NET and managing databases PostgreSQL, SQL, NoSQL and ensure secure data handling. - Strong proficiency in modern programming languages such as Java, Python, Go, or Node.js. - Cloud integration experience using cloud-native services like serverless functions, container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker), and managed databases. Deploying applications to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP). - API and service management experience building and integrating RESTful or GraphQL APIs and connecting third-party services (payment gateways, authentication providers, etc.). - Experience with containerization technologies using Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift. - Experience implementing DevSecOps pipelines and CI/CD automation. - Knowledge of federal frameworks including 508, NIST, FISMA, and FedRAMP. - Experience calling AI/ML APIs (Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, Google Vertex, etc.). - Ability to pass required Federal background screening and obtain and maintain both government clearance and customer approval. - Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
